Yeah, too bad that complete collapse of Confederate discipline caused them to miss the finest opportunity of the war to capture Washington. And too bad that they lost the war so badly in the end.

No, he's posting about the CSA. Bull Run was the first major battle of the American Civil War and was a resounding victory for the forces of racial oppression.

Civil War, and Apu goes on with a brilliant, long winded dissertation
of the causes, and the tester goes:

"Hey hey, Just say Slavery and you pass."

I was kidding. And I wasn't taught that in school, I was taught that the Civil War was primarily a result of Economic and Societal differences between the North and South--that is, the differences between burgeoning industrial capitalism and agrarian slaveocracy. I had a good history teacher.

You usually have good history teachers until college, where you get taught "History: REWRITTEN". Now that the Confederate Flag has been banned and vilified, the civil rights groups are now attacking the American Flag.

Oregon didn't even exist. Interesting that most
Americans identify with the Union. I never hear anyone say we lost, just we won against the South. Where were your ancestors in the Civil War?

Father's Side: Germany and Wales, being opressed Jews and Coal Mine slaves respectively.

Mother's Side: Fighting as Mercinaries for both sides, while living as Poor Irish folks in the South.

Mother's side: dunno; somewhere down the line we are related to Custer.



Father's side: running a plantation in Louisiana.

I'd like to see the Marines take on a confederate milita today.

Standing in front of the Iowa monument at Vicksburg I found the names of two my ancestors, both Union men. A third lost his leg at Gettysburg; a fourth survived the war after marching through Georgia with Sherman’s vengeful hoards in blue. The fifth relative on my mother’s side came from Liberty county Missouri; he disappeared between 1861 and 1865 and does not appear on the Union of Confederate roles. You be the judge: but I do know he turns up arrested in 1867 for burning barns in Kansas.

Let's face it, Economic Slavery was very present in the Nineteenth Century, in most Industrialized areas, folks not getting paid enough for work that killed them young then the companys were charging them to live in conditions worse then those of the Slaves. Before the Civil War, a factory tenement housing in the North Burnt to the ground, killing hundreds of Italian workers. THey sent the Irish to clean up the mess.

Nor does this change the fact the Slavery is still present. Look at San Francisco's Garment Industry. Or the primary money maker for the Russian Mafia (Kidnapping Young Women and Selling them as slaves to Brothels in Europe, the US, and the Middle East).

Most Irish took the jobs that no one else would, so they were pretty bad off till the late 20th century.
