What F14? The vid said F4. :P

Wow. The plane just disappeared. That's totally awesome.

Given I'm on dial-up and have no intention of wasting precious bandwidth, I take it this is the F-4 ploughing into a concrete reinforced barrier at 500mph or so and turning into a sheet of tinfoil in the process, yes?

Actually it doesn't show the remains, and we're lead to belive the bloody thing disintegrated. It's really quite cool, but it sounds like you've already seen it.

It's used loads of times on Discovery and BBC documentaries on what high-velocity impacts can be like, I think along with the freight-train hitting one of those nuclear waste cubes head on and derailling.

If I recall right (and I do), the only parts that really survive are the canted wingtips if only because the wall wasn't wide enough to have them plough in. It's quite comical, but I doubt there'd be anything left of the poor Phantom to fill anything more than a binbag.

Yeah, it's that one.

Pretty sweet.

Wonder what would happen if it was a C17 with a M1A2 in the hold at the time...

Have they tested it against a 747 or something similiar?

Right click and save is the way to go.
I noticed too, that it doesn't show the aftermath of the wall, that isn't conclusive enough for me. :(

Whew, thank god for this video, I was just having the urge to run into a concrete wall at two thousand miles an hour. Saved my ass.

I've found that Firefox and Quicktime don't really get along. Just right-click and save to disk. That's what I always do.

Hmm... flying brick vs a bunch of bricks and mortar? cool.

A plane running into a concrete wall at high speeds and leaving no recognizable debris behind? conspiracy! Conspiracy!

I tell you what, if I'm ever elected president, there'll be plenty of funding for expiriments that involve taking recordings of things running into other things at extremely high speed.

I third that. And thanks to the amazingly low voter turn out of recent years that would appear to be enough to get him elected. :D

Except that, even if I wasn't underage, I still wouldn't be a US Citizen. Which would make my vote count for nothing. :(

A local college physics prof likes to pose questions like "If you take a 28 pound turkey, accelerate it to 75% of C and slam it into a brick wall, how much energy is liberated?"

He also tends to discuss structural engineering in terms of "If you do 'X' while building a bridge, it will collapse, many people will die, and you will lose standing in the community."

So Sriad, if you're elected, can we expect to see a live-fire test of the turkey-brick wall experiment? If so, you've got my vote.
