Anyone ever see that movie with Louie Anderson with a bunch of other comedians as grown up Boy Scouts and John Goodman as some psycho out in the woods? There was a scene with some killer squirrel that this story reminded me of. How in the world can a freakin squirrel be so devious? They make is sound like it lies in wait and pounces on innocent people. Where in the hell are the damn shot guns?

It's tougher than you think to kill those little buggers. I knocked one out of a 50 ft oak tree with a rock from a sling shot and it still ran away.

Best to hit them with a pointed pellet to the head.

I like to see sombody try. One really good blow would do one in, but you'd never get a chance. You'd have better luck circiling the area at high speed hoping to hit it with your car.

The car thing wouldn't work either. See that Geico commercial?

Noooooooooooo. You're back. I thought I had killed you five years ago. But somehow your alive and up to your old tricks. Nooooooooooooo. I will have my revenge. Mu hahaha.

Just kidding.

Seriously though it's a frigging squirrel. Take a shovel to the thing. Or, I've always wondered what an elephant gun would do to something so small.

How hard could it be? Just wear heavy pants (which conceal your legs completely), kick it off of you if it tries to bite your leg, then smack it down with a bat or whatnot. I don't see what is so hard about this. Wear a mask if you have to, but seriously, it's not that hard to do. And wtf? The entire town is in fear of a SQUIRREL?! Maybe it explains why they don't want to invade Iraq... :P j/k about that last line, just couldn't resist ribbing 'em.

In some cases the round would be so big it would just push the squirrel along with it until impact with another solid object like a tree. Then it goes squish.

Ah, but I do it in suburban neighborhood so a shotgun might get me in a wee bit of trouble. Besides, it's morre of a challenge.

If I was in England, I'd go out and shoot it. But I'm not so I couldn't.

Cops and in a number of cases residents, shoot animnals in my town on a bi weekly basis, rabies combind with very stupid deer and narrow twisting wood lined roads make for many targets. There has never been a single person injuryed or any property damaged.

I'm talking about if the residents decided to start chasing it.

I don't mind if the cops have a go. They atleast have decent training and usually go: "Hey, if I miss him from this angle, my bullets going to go straight into that crowded playground... I might shift firing position or wait for him to move." Not just blast away like some people may.

Why doesn't somebody just shoot the little bastard with an air rifle? Wouldn't take a gun enthusiast, either; plenty of kids have air rifles. In fact, in Britain the problem is getting kids to stop shooting wildlife and pets with the things.
All they need to do is offer £20 and a lollypop to the first under-16 ruffian to pot the Killer Squirrel. If the lollypop isn't enough incentive, give 'em some ciggies.

An air rifle would not be effective. Better to use somthing like a 3006. You dont need to hit the thing with a round that size to kill it. You just fire at the treet alongside adn the shock will stun it for quite a while. Then you cut the head off with a knife.

IIRC civilian-owned firearms in Britain are limited to .22 Rimfire. It's a real pisser.
But what do we have in the meantime? We have high-powered air rifles, and hitting a squirrel anywhere with a .22 pellet will introduce a little sadness into its life (The British gun mags full of nothing but grinning guys holding up dead rodents, pidgeons and anything else small enough to expire when you lamp it with a .22 are testement to this.)
And we have a vast selection of junior scumbags equipping themselves with said rifles (granted not the really cool ones that require a firearms certificate, but still rifles with an output up to the legal limit).
So, er, yeah. Kids with guns + Killer Squirrel = justice for all (especially the squirrel) .
