National Security

By Kojikun

THE CAPITAL (CI News) - In a nation racked by fear, people look to the government to help prevent the evils which loom among us. We ask them, nay, beg them, to do something about the problems, to boost security, and to make the country safe again so we don't fear. Well finally they've done something, finally they're going to look for middle eastern people who might be out to hurt and harm us. They're going to set up a branch of the government to take reports from a large portion of the populus so they may find possible traitors and unpatriots or their sympathisers. Many people think this is a bad idea, but people I've spoken to seem to think it's great.

"If it saves one life, investigating and rounding up thousands of people is fine with me," says a friend of the family, "Even if it's invasive it'll still save lives and prevent people from coming to harm.

Personally, I think that this war has made people overly hyped and worried about things which don't exist. The countries had economic problems and quite a few scares (some big ones), but this doesn't mean we need to go around pointing fingers at these people because of their religion or where they're from and accusing them of ruining our perfect little country.

Feedback is always welcome.

A pseudo-report from Berlin, Germany, 1933, highlighting the new Gestapo and its purpose during the Nazi Party's domination of German politics. If you thought this was an article about the USA you would be CORRECT, because a new government program will ENLIST over 25% of the citizens in the USA as informants to report possible terrorists and anti-Americans.

DON'T LET THE US BECOME NAZI GERMANY!! FIGHT THE FASCIST TOTALITARIANS!!

Part II -- Monday, July 22, 2002

I was on yahoo earlier and read something horrifying. The US government is trying to make it legal to use the MILITARY as LAW ENFORCEMENT.

During times of fear of a ist attack, people are willing to give up some of their liberties for security, but this is outrageous! What we need to do is focus on the people that actually commit these attacks, not the old lady next door! While airport security people were busy doing strip searches and confiscating granny's knitting needles and grampa's Medal of Honor for it's sharp edges, Arabs with 2 identities, a shotgun, and shoes with fuses in them walk by undetected. Though security teams can find pencils, safety scissors, and razors, they can't find something as obvious as a handgun!

I still have faith in the US government, but I want them to draw the line somewhere, and keep this wonderful country of mine from becoming a totolarian state.

I agree with the above, if it gets much worse, I'm moving to Canada when I'm 18 or something. Thats given I have a real job that required me living in Canada. If I cant, I'm starting a local resistance cell or joining one.

I have a gold membership card to five of them here in Texas. I get to be first in the bunker when the government comes for us :)

 Where do they find these people? Did someone drive out to the middle of Alabama to question some slack-jawed yocal on national security?

75% of America feels that way, Kin. And FYI, I wrote the article.

How will these people be rounded up? Will the U.S. gov't install strategic cameras, spies, and agents in ethnic neighbourhoods to monitor the comings and goings of every middle eastern person of ill-repute? Or will the prayers and sermons at mosques be monitored and censored to ensure that anti-U.S. sentiments are not made.

When you bring up things you imply that the government is out to screw the public intentionally. What we see here is not government deceit, because they are reacting to exactly what the American public wants. What do you expect them to do when millions of people are screaming for the heads of those responsible.

Well, it's not that bad. It's just calling on people to do something, they don't have to do it. When the government sees no effect, it's probably going to be nullified, which would be impossible, considering little government action is taken.
