It isn't just about treating animals well it's coercing everyone into being vegans.
Moby: No Eat Turkeys
Moby discusses treatment of turkeys

ASSOCIATED PRESS
Nov. 7, 2002 | NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Vegan musician Moby is urging people to call Butterball's holiday hot line, but not to learn how to stuff, roast or carve their Thanksgiving turkey.
“Please join me in calling Butterball to let them know that there is no proper way to kill and cook these beautiful birds,” the techno artist says in a message he recorded for a telephone line set up by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Moby then twice gives the number for Butterball's Turkey-Talk Line, which the company operates annually at holiday time to offer turkey-cooking techniques.
Callers to the PETA line also may request free vegetarian recipes.
The Norfolk-based animal rights group contends that turkeys raised on factory farms live in filth and misery and that many of the birds, bred to grow large, suffer from skeletal deformities and disease.
“We are committed to humane treatment of animals,” said Julie DeYoung, spokeswoman for Butterball, part of Omaha, Neb.-based ConAgra Foods Inc. “PETA has a reputation for a radical interpretation of issues, and this tactic does not surprise us.”
So far, the Butterball line hasn't gotten many calls influenced by Moby's message, DeYoung said Wednesday.
Moby, 37, said he has been a vegan — a strict vegetarian who eschews all animal products — since he was 21.

The last musicians I want to see pushing PETA's cause are the norwegian black metal band Mayhem, as one of their former guitarists, Öystein "Euronymos" Aarseth, once ate the brains of their vocalist Per-Yngve "Dead" Ohlin (after "Dead" committed suicide, of course) according to rumour...
On the other hand, "Euronymos" is currently dead as he was killed by the band's session bassist Varg "The Count" Vikernes, so currently the band might not have any problems...
However, I wouldn't be surprised if ex-beatle Paul McCartney is promoting PETA, as he's earned himself a status as animal rights posterboy.

Why o why, do these celebrities have to lend their names to PETA? It's almost as if their fame fries whatever sense they have left, and they suddenly get urges to join and promote loony organizations.

Vegetarians do might have one small point, if they thought about it. All the food we feed our meat animals could instead be used to feed people, allowing more people to live in the United States on the same amount of land.
Then again, I didn't get to the top of the food chain merely to hop back down a few levels. <G>

Theoretically that might be true, but many range lands will not support industrial agriculture like wheat and corn. Also as happens in California when you take a range land out of production it often gets developed with homes.
Lets face it, meat tastes good. Hmmmmm..yum.

Bah to PETA. As far as I am concerned, PETA supports domestic terrorism by indirectly supporting ALF and ELF. PETA could care less about animals as harldy (hardly basically meaning ZERO) any money goes to animal welfare and they raise millions per year. All that money fills their pockets and goes toward idiotic PR stunts. Hypocrites.

Have you ever tried making a burger using meatloaf as the "bread" for the bun?

Nope. Ever try dumping liberal amounts of wing sauce on normal meat like turkey or ham?

Moby is an inconsequential little turdling with delusions of grandeur. Very rare for one of those Hollywood types.
