Was it possible?

Was it ever truly possible for the Nazis to accomplish world domination or would it always eventually have been checked, albeit with much more enormous body counts?

There weren't enough of them, their stated goal was to subjugate most of the human race (which would not sit too well with most of the human race), and Hitler was too stupid. It would have sputtered and been crushed eventually. But history might have been a lot different in the meantime.

The Germans could not realistically conquer the world. Western and eastern Europe up the Soviet boarder was the most they could take and hold. Of course if they don't crush the Soviet Union they wont be able to hold for long. Course taking the Soviet Union was impossible..

So the answer is no.

Eventually they would have lost I believe. Although if they took out England and then left the Russians alone, the world might look much different today.

However, I think in the long the US and Russia would still have ended up carving up Germany.

Considering Stalin was building up to fight Hitler in '41, and was literally caught with his pants down..... no. Hitler hadn't a chance in hell, really.

I think the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany would have fought to stalemate.

50 mil Germans<200 mil Russians, even if the Russians were just throwing rocks, Germany loses.

No, really they never had more than a even shot at taking and holding the continental Europe. Too many forces against them and piss poor leadership from Hitler.

Not unless they do it over a much larger time frame. Like say the better part of a few centuries. Slowly gobble up an assimilate your neighbors.

I believe that it is possible that the world would have polarized into three great superpowers, had the events of Pearl Harbor not occured:

A great Nazi empire, stretching across the whole of western Europe and North Africa.

A vast Soviet nation, stretching from bleak Siberia to the doorstep of Germany.

An immense American dominion, controlling trade and maritime shipping through the Americas and the Pacific.

It would be like 1984, sorta - three superpowers controlling world affairs.

Wrong. The fact is that Communism and Fascism are two completely and totally incompatible political systems, and Hitler and Stalin were two untrustworthy bastards. Current evidence suggests very strongly that Stalin was going to attack Germany; not in 1941 as Nazi apologists claimed, but in 1944-1945. By that time in a hypothetical timeline, Soviet industrial potential would have been superior to the rest of Europe combined, and rivalled the USA. The Red Army would have recovered from Stalin's purges as well as would be possible.

The Soviets would have trounced Hitler quite badly at that point. Even in our 'real' 1945, with a near-crippled war machine, they were outproducing Hitler's wartime peak by several factors. In the hypothetical 1945, they would probably have ten tanks/planes/artillery pieces to Hitler's one, if not more.

Stalin would certainly have no reason not to attack...

In this putative history, the Cold War would have been played with a Soviet Empire stretching from the Bering Strait to the Pyrenees. The result would probably be the same, a US victory on an economic basis, but post-communist Europe's economy would have been much more bleak.

Like Pablo says the Nazi's would of got deck real bad from the Soviets unless it became America's little bitch. Then boom Cold War all over again, slighly different settings
