All I have to say is "No."
I was a DM for half a dozen years, and I certainly never heard anything about real magic. We understood perfectly well that it wasn't real, and that it was a game. How many people are real estate tycoons, like in Monopoly? I certainly never had any occult training. How about you, Alyrium? Any occult training for you?

Damn him! AD&D doesn't distort my world view at all! He will die as soon as I lock on his position with my Crystal Ball and Teleport there. You think a Phantasmal Killer is overkill for a 0th level human?

There are no 0th level any more. Didn't you get the 3e update? He'd now be a 1st level commoner. Maybe an expert, if you can be an expert in fundamentalism.

Chick and most people are completely ignorant about roleplaying games and their effects. I mean, ADnD didn't teach me about witchcraft, devil worship and spell casting...
Thats what I play Call of Cthulhu for!

...find a copy of the Palladium Fantasy RPG...actually has summoning circles and runes (though they go way overboard in saying they're fake).

" Your cleric has reached the 8th level, are you ready to learn the real spells?"
Yes, Yes I am.
But in all hinesty D&D is simply an excuse to pretend you arent someone thst isnt real. I can get a little into it sometimes, but I still know the differnce between fantasy and reality. Sure when I get mad at someone, i get a mental picture of me casting fireball at thier house, but that is all just fun and games

If magic was that easy you'd hear a lot more about unexplained fire balls and chain lightnening. The majority of players are still young and the young aren't exactly known for their self control. Stupid git.

Hmm...I must use my Shadowdancer and send my shadows to slay him! All kidding aside, like the rest of the posts, AD&D has, if nothing else, helped my imagination and gotten me into medieval history. Many things have I learned outside of the AD&D world from inspiration inside it.

What surprises me is that people in this thread actually take the time to rationalize why he's wrong when it's so damned obvious why, when they could be laughing at his silly ass.

Ahh...Well, this such crap has happened before to me, so I'm a bit used to having to explain myself. Also, when examining the tract, doesn't the preacher guy look like a great dictator in front of that crowd?

I am sorry but if I did have the power to cast spells of mass destruction.....I would use them, no...I would abuse them. I would go to a school assembly and DBF(delayed blast fireball) at strategic points in the bleachers(sure i would convert it to subual sonic damage so as not to kill them and give tham a good idea at what my ears feel like)
Not to mention the use of
suggestion spells in the locker room

Youn cant tell me you wouldnt go into a girls locker room and use a suggestion spell. The only differnence between you and me is that I would go into the boys locker room. Besides it would only reliably work on gays and bisexuals. With the use of a suggestion spell the target gets a save every time they are asked to do something against thier nature.

I agree totally with you Alyrium...But it's just the thought of going to the lockers one day to suddenly have the sudden and irresistable urge to dance nekkid on the benches.
But then, what would I do to the girls?
