Boasts and fun new stuff
Yadda yadda, this is oberon, reincarnated as Malecoda, with a new dialup. Y'see, I just had to switch over to msn.com, as Best Buy was giving away $200 if you switched with a purchase. There are some things we got that I can't keep quiet about.
Our first purchase was a PS2 ($199), a memory card, a second controller and 2 ext cables, and some games: Myst 3 Exile, Hitman 2, 18-Wheeler, Sly Cooper. The day before yesterday, we bought about a K worth of bedding: mattress pad, 4 pillows, 2 sheet sets, a comforter and duvet, throw pillows and a throw blanket--along with a new shower curtain & rings and some black bath/toilet mat & seat cover sets.
Yesterday--this is the big one-- we got a 2000 Volvo Cross Country AWD, with leather and wood and CD, power heated seats and heated mirrors and all that other crap. This will be our new camping and dog transportation unit. The engine is sweet, kinda weird: a transverse-mounted straight 5. It sounds really throaty and rumbles in a satisfying fashion. It idles kinda rough bec of the weird number of cylinders, but it has a refined ride once you get going. It's 2.4 liters, 197 HP, and gets going pretty happily. We didn't get a turbo, but I don't mind. We test-drove a turbo and actually, neither of us liked it. Low-speed turbo lag is kind of intolerable. The speedo on ours tops out at 160 mph, and that's faster than any wagon needs to be going. One thing we were after was good acceleration and passing, and the ability to take a full loadout of gear and dog over the passes without blinking. We weren't too crazy abt the Geartronic system, either, and opted for a straight auto. All in all, very nice, definitely one of the nicest cars out around. And we got one, yahoo!
Today we took delivery of a queen-size dark oak sleigh bed, which I have just made up with the fancy new linen. Also as of today, we have some PS1 games to add, and Black Sabbath's Paranoid.
Tomorrow, we are taking the dog to stay with friends on Whidbey Island for a week. This is because on Monday, lanscapers start work on our back yard. We're getting a patio and a small wall to separate the patio from the rest of the yard, in which the grass (weeds) will be ripped out and replaced with cedar bark. For the dog to poop in, easy to see and clean up, see. Shortly after that, contractors are coming to replace all our old single-pane aluminum windows with insulated-glass vinyl sliders. We'll have the front yard landscaped in the spring, and install a deck in the front, along with some uplights to illuminate our walk. We're getting a new computer with DSL soon. I'm pushing for a 1.25GHz dual G4. Then I'll finally be able to post some pictures. I fully anticipate being able to take digital photos of a new entertainment center and widescreen. But that much could be on hold a while. We need a new printer too. I think that pretty much wraps it up.

Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

What's this about newBs? Y'all can call me a n00b all you want. 3 posts, why not? I don't really follow that. I mean, I get it just fine, but that may very well be the least important thing in the history of the universe. Or, to put it this way:
I'll be sure to think about that on my way to Whistler in my new car.
Heheh. I liked the poke machine pic. You should take a pic of a Volvo V70 and make them play chicken.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness just didn't have any money.
