Can in America, you can fuck your girlfriend at age 16, but you can't watch porn until you're 18? If anything, I'd think they'd be reversed. Doesn't it make sense to watch porn before having sex?

Not true. If you fuck anyone below 18, it counts as statutory rape.
Have a very nice day.

Right. Although age of consent is 16, it is still considered statutory rape to have sex with anyone under 18 (provided you're 18 or older).
GO figure.

And of course, if you're BOTH under 18, the guy's still liable, even if the girl's older.

We draw all sorts of arbitrary ages that dont always make sense.
Most 17 year old girls are as mature or more mature than a 19 year old guy.
But if they have sex, the boy can go to jail. My first time was at 19 with a 17 year old. She'd had more sexual partners than most people have by the time they are 30. But id still have been at fault should someone decide to press charges.
Recently someone here suggested making cigarettes unavailable to anyone under 21. While, I personally hate cigarettes, I would vote against that cause its just damn stupid.

Similarly, I would vote for making alcohol legal at 18.

I understand why they make the age 21, because like it or not, teens routinely prove they cant handle alcohol. BUT! I think we should adopt a more European attitude towards alcohol. Most people there experience alcohol at a young age as a part of dinner. Here alcohol is portrayed as the ultimate party item. If we did that then we could make drinking at 16 legal, and it would not be the problem we have today. Just my two cents..

Exactly. Teens may pprove they can't handle it, but look at all the ADULTS that can't. I mean, seriously, if they learn early about their mistakes, it may lead to them not having problems when they're older.

Actually here is how the law works with under 18.
People 16 or 17 years of age may have sex with anyone 16 or older. However older people can only have sex with 16 or 17 year olds if they are no more then 2 years older. So if the older partner doesn't want to be punished by law, they must be no more then 2 years older then the 16 or 17 year old.
Yeah, I know, its a screwed up law. Montana tried changing the age of consent to 18, but many people in the state senate objected because if those rules HAD applied to them, they would have raped their wives and had a bastard child. They thought that would look bad even if it wasn't retroactive. That and it would make people into criminals because they wouldn't pay attention to the law.

So basically 18 year olds are trusted enough to determine the leader of the last remaining superpower. Yet they are not trusted enough to handle alcohol. And people wonder why America is so fucked up.

I'm guessing that the main reason the drinking age is 21 is so the likelihood of high school students being able to buy booze legally is very small. Keeping nearly all high school students from buying alcohol legally keeps them from illegally sharing it with their underage friends at large unsupervised gatherings.
By the way, 18 year-olds can also be drafted to fight at the whim of the people they weren't allowed to vote against.

Thing is in Europe the drinking age is 18. They don't seem to have the problem there.

Whatever the case is one church i went to served wine for the drinking of the "blood" of christ and had real bread for the "body". So my sunday school class a few of us would leave saying we were going to help the toddler class. When actually we were raiding the fridge that had the whine in it. I myself one time stole a whole frickin bottle and we never got caught. But then a younger class of students tried it and a couple kiddies got caught drunk in church...

But then our system has to accomodate the religious fundamentalist. Or do you need to be reminded how many issues are contested only because they clash with the traditional moral codes of Christianity.
Have a very nice day.
