Washroom Reading Material

As I was sitting on the porcelain throne this morning, a thought occured to me, as it often does when I'm pooping. I realized that whenever I'm taking a dump, I always have reading material on hand, usually a car magazine or a home electronics or computer mag. And so I got curious about what others read (or don't) while they're sitting on the toilet doing their thing.

National. Geographic.

Sometimes, I get so wrapped up in an article or series and I keep reading long after....I'm........you know....finished.

I don't read when I'm on the toilet, since barring a really big dump, I probably won't be in there for more than 10 minutes, and since the majority of that time is taken up by wiping and hand washing, I wouldn't be able to get much reading in.

Various books myself, usually something sci fi like Trek or Wars. Although lately I haven't bothered reading anything, just finish up and get back to whatever it was it was I was doing before nature called.

It never takes me more than a minute or so to complete the matter at hand, if I want to read, I can read in a comfy chair rather than in a bathroom.

Holy poop (no pun intended). Thats exactly what I do.

This past weekend the girlfriend started banging on the door in case I'd fallen in I was so into an evolution article from a few months ago. :)

Thing is, I find it difficult to go at all unless I'm reading something... weird!

Reading National Geo. leads to sitting to long.

Sitting too long leads to hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids lead to suffering...[/Yoda]

Books for me.

Comics and manga, usually. I actually read a chapter of DKR one time on the john, I guess that's sacrilege.

I'm like that too. I have to be reading something most of the time. Anything. If there aren't any magazines, I'll read the ingredients on the talcum powder bottle. Just as long as I'm reading something.

Pretty much whatever is handy, usually a RPG book or game guide.

In my bathroom at work, I have the Master Orion II user manual, and the Worst Case Scenario Handbook, as my only two sources of reading material.

EDIT: Last year, I also had a typeset copy of Star-Crossed in a 3-ring binder, but my friend who worked with me stole it.

I don't take long to have a dump unless I'm constapated, so no, I don't read anything while sitting on the jon...

Lately it's been either the newspaper or some issue of Entertainment Weekly. Sometimes I'll bring in my GBA or whatever book I'm reading (or at least trying to).

I consider time spent on the toilet to be true quality time. The hum of the fan and the isolation of the surroundings effectively cuts me off from the rest of the whackos in this place for a bit.

I, like others, must be reading at all times, books, lots of books for me.

I forget myself there alot, find myself sitting 15-30 minutes in the dumper, but it rocks.

They keep newspapers in there at work, while at home I'd rather just play the GBA.

Usually a bit of the newspaper. Like the opinion/editorial section or the comics.

I usually have "Superstrings and Other Things: A Guide to Physics" nearby, as well as a George Carlin book and some random magazine.

Whatever comes to hand. I keep a stock of literature there for exactly that purpose. It really depends on the mood of the month... this month, sports mags. Last month, Star Wars graphic novels.

(Hey, I have to keep that KJA one somewhere, and the shitter seemed like the most appropriate place.)

I never read whilst in the act of dispensing with my waste. It never seemed to work, and I read much more slowly than usual, and it justs feels uncomfortable.

My wife and I have this big wicker basket next to the throne that's always filled with books... reading in there has come to be known as "doing a number 3" :) Many times I've tried to get up only to realise that my legs have fallen asleep...

I can't believe I'm telling people this...

I usually have the Sunday paper in there all week.

I used to read, but now I don't. Mostly because my paperback reading has fallen off so much, and it's hard sneaking a hardback in there. Plus it just gets too awkward.

But I do enjoy my quality time. But only if it's on the Other Tiolet. The Main Tiolet sucks for sitting on and I just hurry it up.
