Can we get some kind of rule stipulating the maximum length of a signature? Some people are starting to get kinda silly.

There's alread a 255 character limit if I remember right.

I agree though, the animated sig need to go. And some of those with the larger pictures as well.

I second that. I find it annoying.

I suggest the equivalent of six lines. Infractors will be punished.

I think the character limit it fine as it is. No need to get lines into it, that doesn't really work. They do it over at SB.com and the admin has to mess with all the time. A character limit works much better and besides it's built in already.

Just get rid of the huge pics and animations.

No, my point was precisely because of the images. I want to stablish a limit on the size of possible images . It makes some sense getting the equivalent of written text in the pics.

The word limit seems fine, only a few people have what I'd call excessive amount of text. But the animations and any pictures over 10 kb need to die.

Its not the file size thats irritating IMHO, its the fact that some peoples' signatures take up damn near half a screen.

If you want to do that, just limit the pics by pixel size then. It'd be a lot simpler than trying to figure line equivalents.

Could you give us a little more concrete the some peoples? Examples would be good.

You're right. Maybe something like 2 or 3x the maximum avatar size

I'd say no more than 240 height by 480 wide. And nothing over 25 kb in size. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

BBCode can be used in the signature as well. I made my sig text smaller, so as not to take up much space, easier to scroll past.

For details, check out the BBCode faq here on sd.net.

My sig text is size=10.

ok, so we cut it to 160 x 160

And further restrict the amount of text.

That's still getting into a rather big pic, I'd limit the width to 480 maybe.

Hersey! Charactet text shouldn't be limited further, and I shall put on my Lennox for annyonce.

300 x 150 should be large enough. Realisticaly, that's all space you need.
