The lawyer of , Mrs. Grunow the widow of a Florida teacher who was shot and killed by a 13 year old boy, wants the gun distributor, Valor to be liable for all the damages. The boy stole the gun from a family friend went to school and shot his teacher in the head. The distributor, the family friend, and the school are all blamed and expected to pay.

Agree? Disagree?

HELL FUCKING NO.

Sue whoever manufactures kinetic energy. That’s what's really at fault. A bullet can't do shit without it and the damage depends greatly on how much is present.

We had a discussion about this in my Legal Studies class; IIRC, the gun distributor is only being held something like 5-10% responsible for the murder. Still horseshit, though.

I don't get it. If the weapon was legally sold, then what is the lawyer thinking? Have american lawyers finally gone crazy?

He should be held responsible if he had sold the weapon to the shooter without respecting the necessary steps.

What is really said is apparently the gun had already been bought before and sold to a pawn shop. Then the family friend bought it from a pawn shop owner and Mrs. Grunow (the widow) sued the pawn shop and the family friend in an earlier suit for half a million. Now she is suing the distributor?

Whatever.

Forget that. Sue the universe. Its laws of physics allowed the kenetic energy from the bullet to exist and kill him.

Read the article and the comments. There is approximately 4 degrees of separation between the distrubutor and the user...
