What should I name this?

Hey. I know most of you aren't praying people, and more then half of you probably don't care about this anyway, but...
The past few days my asthma has been getting really bad. Last night at around midnight I could hardly breathe, inhaler did nothing, medication did nothing, and I finally slept it off. All the time I'm noticing sudden and long winded tightness of lungs, shortness of breathe, etc. and it is really making me fearful.

Get a air filtration system. I got a small one for about 20 buck, and it really helped me.

Pretty off the wall, but you think you might have anything in your room that's giving you allergies?

Go to a doctor pronto. My cousin has asthma and forgot his inhaler once when he went to school. He figured that he could handle it. During the day his chest was getting tighter and tighter. Finally he went to the doctor who said, "If you came any later you would've probably died." Not very comforting.
God gave you brains. Use them. Go to a doctor now.

I have athsma as well, So I speak from experience. If you inhaler does not work see you doctor fucking quick. Remember the wee problem we share can kill, I make no joke here.
There are some things you can do to
temporily reduse the constriction, like put your head by your knees, esp if you do that while having a hot shower. But by the sounds of it you are beyoned that, see a doctor.

Thanks for all the responses.
I'm not sure I need to see a doctor right away though. I just saw him a few days ago and he put me on medication that should work by the end of the week. It hasn't yet, but I'd guess I better trust his judgement on that one.
If it keeps hapening I'll contact him. Fortunately, I thought ahead and canceled trumpet-related-things for a while until the medicine kicks in. I don't wanna be playing in band then falloff the stage wheezing.

Goodgood.....you may be a "fundie" from CW.org, but we still care about you as a person because you are rational enough to act decent around here. Take Care.

Sounds like the asthma medication your doc gave you isn't doing the trick -- may even be backfiring. I'd see him (or another doc) to fix the problem. Do you exercise regularly (by that I mean cardiovascular exercise like running or bicycling)?

It's possible that you've collapsed a lung, in which case you'll probably end up needing surgery. I've had mine collapse 3 times, and there doesn't need to be a discernible reason for it to happen - it's called "spontaneous pneumothorax." If it's a significant collapse, the lung can actually collapse and put pressure on the heart, causing cardiac arrest, or so I'm told.

Well... If it doesn't start getting better, find another doctor.

Just came back from an ER visit due to an asthma attack. As far as they know its just asthma.
Got put on a nebulizer for about 15 minutes, given some more pills to take, and sent home after the hour long wait.
Fun fun

Didn't we tell you to go see a doctor? Praying is no substitute for real medicine.

Good for you. I'm glad you took the steps to go see the doctors.
Like I said, we may come off as fundie-bashers all the time (especially as of late), but you are a human. And that we care about.

Heh, the ER visit took so long by the time I got in the attack went away. But fortunately this medicine should kick in. And I"m getting an air purifier and/or nebulizer.

CreationistAllTheWay--
I don't know if asthma meds are the kinds of things some paeople may have allergic reactions to, but you may want to double-check the ingrediaents on that last batch. Or other expiry dates, or if its sensitive to humidity.
Personally, I'd prefer that you talk to God from your prayers here on Earth, and not rush to meet him personally. Keep in contact with the doc and remember, "Baruch atah Adonai, elohainu malakh ha'olam, bishvil ha'pri l'briut"... "Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, for the gift of Health."
Later.
