This runs into the same problem as America's lack of overseas travel. It’s a fucking bigger country. Traveling from one side of America to another is similar in distance to traversing much of western and Eastern Europe.

I can name every country in Europe, Asia, North and South American along with much of Africa. How many Europeans can name every American state, many of which are comparable in size and population to European states?

If you want to claim superiority it behooves you to offer proof. I'm not doubting that there is a very ignorant percentage of America but not ever American is a slack jawed idiot.

I really like this
He said nine out of 10 young Americans could recognise the United States on a world map, "which is reassuring, but it does make you wonder about the other 10 percent."
Quite sad.

I can't name the states in US of A but this is really sad.
When asked to find 10 specific states on a map of the United States, only California and Texas could be located by a large majority of those surveyed. Both states were correctly located by 89 percent of the participants. Only 51 percent could find New York, the nation's third most populous state.

They're not hard to find, just go to any intercity of the deep south.

It's something, more like frightening. But it's not really a suprise, on the whole Western civilization is going to hell in a hand basket. It's getting dumber so it's no suprise.

I blame the whole of western civilization. They whole system is designed to reward low attention spans.

To blame anyone thing like that is a cop out It's ignores a wide range of other social problems.

World wide only 30% of people 18-24, the age group being polled, could locate the pacific ocean. That covers how much of the world surface again? Sweden did the best BTW, with most western countries doing little better then the US, some worse.
