Superpower: Who do you hate more: Ireland or New Zealand?

by LordShaithis
I've been playing Superpower for a while now, and my Brazilian Empire is finally undertaking some serious expansion. After shifting the government to a dictatorship and spending years of game-time building up my technology and economy, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Venezuala, Cuba, and Mexico have all fallen. A few South and Central American states maintain their independence, but only because they're too weak and impoverished to be worth conquering. Unless I want to invade the US and slug it out with all of NATO, I need to look across the seas for my next target. So whom should I hit: Ireland or New Zealand? Unrealistic as it seems, I don't believe anyone will go to war to protect either of these countries. (In this game, unless there's an ironclad strategic alliance involved, you can act like an arse and the most you'll get from the neighbors are bad relations and broken trade agreements.) So who do I crush, the Irish or the New Zealanders?

Edited the subject so it isn't complete flamebait. ~Rob

New Zealand. It's closer, and you don't have to pass through foreign waters (much). It's right across the Pacific, whereas you'd have to cross European, British AND American waters to get to Ireland.

Not to go off-topic, but... Superpower is retarded. I played the demo, good idea, horrible execution. Great, I've taken over Cuba and most of Central America. Too bad the game just crashed

Actually you can reach both without even entering another nations EEZ let alone its territorial waters.

True, but again, Britain is *right there.* Which would make it a little more difficult.

Squish Ireland first. Their men will make the ultimate soldiers, having being hardened to violence pain and death over fifty years of civil war.

Get the full version, and the patch. Very few crashes, and a more realistic movement system.

Anyway, I believe the New Zealanders and their sheep must fall. After them, I can clobber the Aussies.

I thought I might mention that, but I wasn't sure if I should.

Bah, no one can take over the Aussies, at least by the Illuminati: New World Order rules :D (rare card game, very cool though 8) )

Bah, the Aussies will be a short fight. They just don't have enough air power to compete with me. (Brazil now has a pretty kickass Navy and Air Force.) Also, their major cities are nice and close to the shore, where my carrier planes can hit them.

Don't be ridiculous :D Here's Illuminati's view:
Australia

G'day, mate! Grab a coldie and I'll throw another prawn on the barbie!
Once Australians make up their minds, that's the way it is. Especially after a few beers. While they are controlled, double their printed Resistance . . . unless it is the weekend, a national holiday in the country where you are playing, or after 5 p.m. In that case, have another coldie and multiply Resistance by four!
Australia has +10 against any Attack to Destroy, and gives all your other Organizations +4 against any Attack to Destroy, because of its remoteness.

POWER: 3
RESISTANCE: 6*

Conservative, Government

Huge, Coastal, Nation

Sure, Brazil's military is a joke. Or rather, it was a joke until Grand Dictator ME spent years of time and billions of dollars bringing it up to speed. Now it has a damn fine pair of aircraft carriers, three nuclear subs, a couple thousand fighters, the ability to hit any city or base on the globe with a nuclear or chemical warhead... and troops that walked through New Zealand's military as if it were composed entirely of sickly young girls!

(How does a country like Brazil pay for all these toys? By spending years developing the economy as thoroughly as the military... And then by imposing insanely high taxes on an entire continent at gunpoint! Muahahaha!)

Anyway, I believe I'll crush Australia (Resistance is futile!) and then temporarily slow down to consolidate my gains, upgrade my ground forces, and do a little espionage-type backstabbing.

As for the game itself, it's no longer a fascinating concept with a horrible execution. It's now a fascinating concept with a semi-passable execution. It's very no-frills, the graphics are shit, and it's all still a bit clunky. Still, it's been all I've played for a month now, so how much can I really complain? I got my thirty bucks worth.

Austrailia will go down kick ass with your Carriers. They can only defend that big rock in the desert with a last stand.

I even have a brilliant and evil plan to shatter NATO and bring the other major world powers to their knees. First I will send my spies and agents out to rig the elections in some middling NATO country. Once I've succeeded in putting a pawn in control, I'll slip that country a few nukes if it doesn't have any of it's own. Then I'll have it suddenly launch those missiles at Russia and China, as well as a randomly selected NATO ally. Chaos should ensue, as all of North America, Europe, and Asia try to beat one another to death. Meanwhile, Brazil will sit untouched and seemingly innocent, ready to strike, assuming the number of nukes detonated doesn't completely screw up the world's environment and get me an instant "GAME OVER"

Must be nice to play this as a game, esp given that NZ's soldiers are, man for man, better then the US's soldiers :D
Still for 30 bucks {or 60 NZ Dollers} its not bad.

NZ will fall to the New World Order(TM)

The End Days(TM) are Coming(TM). You Heard It Here First(TM).

Anyway, I heard it was a good concept but the execution was rather poor because it wasn't very realistic and the politics were skewed.

Much rather have my massive Byzantine legions go forth and bring order to the steppes of Muscovy. Go forth, and conquer in the name of the Emperor!

That goes double for Australia's regular Army troops, who in ever single war game they have had with US Army regulars, have managed to kick there asses! Operation Kangaroo, and a few others come to mind. Only what the US considers 'special forces' are able to keep up with Aussie regulars. So Marines do pretty well, but regular Army get slaughtered. Not to mention that by US satandards, the Australian Army is considered 'special forces'. Bring it on

Sorry Crown, but earlier tonight, Australia was crushed under the booted heel of the Brazilian Empire. Your tiny air force was shot down with ease, after which your precious ground forces were nothing but target practice.

BTW, it's my habit to occasionally take interesting pieces of equipment from conquered nations, export them back to Brazil, upgrade them with my awesome tech, and put them into production. You guys didn't have shit that was worth anything though. Your tanks are crap.

Anyway, Superpower is flawed but fun. The sequel they're doing should be awesome.

That's it GrandAdmiralPrawn! I want VENGENCE (god I hope I spelt that right, nothing ruins a rant more than poor spelling)!!!!!!!!!

Okay could someone hook me up with Superpower? What is it? Where should I look for it? And lastly how much?

Australia, our great big brown land, cries for vengence!

Well if that is so, than add that up to another one of the conspiracy's to keep Australia down. My favourite one is the World Cup qualafying we have to do, they know that they can't allow us in, or else we would end up dominating yet another sport! GRRRRR...
