Three ways to spell 'worm':
Worm (Traditional)
Wurm (Magic: the Gathering)
Wyrm (Lots of other places, notably Orson Scott Card's Wyrms)

If you're referring to dragons, then wyrm by far. If you're talking about earthworms and their ilk, then worm

Whatever. Just the way it's spelled, not in reference to anything. Ass.

I'm going with him on this one. It depends on what it's refering to.

I don't like seeing "earthwyrm" and I don't like seeing "great gold worm", so I can't pick one stand-alone spelling as my "favorite".

Like I said, it has nothing to do with reference, other than which way you would spell it. Wurms in M:tG are worms, and wyrms in Card are worms. So it can't really mean anything.

Wyrm I guess though it depends on the context.

Wyrm. Though mainly for the definition.

Of these three, I would have to say "wyrm", namely in reference to dragons - which are such noble beasts and should not be compared to mere "worms" (we would be worms compared to them).
My personal favourite is "weoirme". From Phliobath - Scion of Tiamirerskia, Volume 17 of the Chronicles of the Elves of the Runesword.

I voted worm. Just for the insult factor. "You worm". But my favorite is vermis.

Worm. In general context, that's the way it's spelled.

Bullshit. I was a fan, until I ran out of cash. I ran a speed black beatdown. Either Wurm or Wyrm is good, but I prefer Wyrm (bad-ass dragons)

I meant, as far as the spelling preference. I think Wurm is so cool because I am so used to seeing it as a suffix to Yavimaya, one if the coolest words I've seen before. *shrug*

Worm, in most cases. It makes you look smater. But, in rare cases, I'd use "wyrm".
