Strange Computer "Save as" Problem

Right now my computer is doing something weird, something it has done before.
Status: Dell comp with Windows ME, uses Internet Explorer, as well as Photoshop 6.0.1.
Okay, so when I try to right-click to save an Internet image (a JPEG or GIFF), I choose the "Save Picture As..." funtion. However, instead of the correct filename and format being displayed, it instead says "untitled" and has the format set as a BMP.
It's been doing this since Friday, but I left for CR then, so this is the first day using my computer since then.
Is there any reason why this is happening, and is there anything I can do about it to fix it? I remember that my computer has done this before, but I don't know what I did to fix it (maybe I just let it go away, but I'm not sure).
Thanks. This is really pissing me off, as there are a ton of pics I want to save right now.

I know how that is.....public comps do it all the time. AFAIK, there really isn't a way to fix it.

Okay, NOW it starts working?
Not that I'm complaining or anything.

First thing, uninstall Windows ME. No, better yet, burn your computer and your keyboard and mouse with it. You can't uninstall evil.
Seriously, you might want to try just saving the images as files without extensions, and then renaming them to their proper names in Explorer.

Try saving on someone else's comp, then kill him so he can't report it to the relevant authorities.

Okay, now it's not working again.
Shit.
I actually like Win ME, so none of that shit, okay?

Seriously? Please understand my skepticism; Windows ME is by far the most horrible operating system I've ever had the misfortune of working with. It was not uncommon for me to have to reboot two or three times a day, even after I added 128 Megs of RAM to my machine. Windows XP, by comparison, almost never crashes for me.
But, to each his own.

I've been able to run mine for days without any sort of problem.
Hell, I really have to Ctrl-Alt-Del or a hard-reset only every two weeks or so.
It's been running pretty much fine for me.

Considering that should NEVER need to be done...

That happens to me everyonce in a while. Usually, if I hit the refresh button and try to save again, or hit the back and then forward buttons, it saves correctly.
Those have always worked for me, so I never tried to figure it out.

Yeah, now it seems to be working again, but it's too soon to tell if it's fixed or if it's going off and on.
Oh well, the file names are on-screen, so it's not that hard to enter it in when I need to.

Good luck then.

Okay, I think i figured it out.
I decided to do a disk cleanup, and found out that my temporary internet folder was pretty much filled up to max.
So I just ran disc cleanup, reset, and bam! it's working fine. I've saved at least 50 pictures in their correct formats, and have decided to resave the others that were saved as BMPs, as it's a lot easier to do that and delete the old ones than to go through Photoshop.
