Newbie rights

Yes, we have newbies have not been here long. But I, Lord Sauron-Tyranus-Vader, wish to send a clear and firm message to the moderators about newbie rights. Hree it is:
1. Newbies are not necissarily dumb or naive. Most are reasonably smart people who have been watching the board for awhile.
2. Newbies are people, and most people get pissed when they poked. No poking.
3. Don't talk to newbies like they're children: they're not.
4. Remeber, at one time even the moderators were newbies.
5. Newbie status cannot be bypassed, dont blame people for being newbies.
Any moderator who reads this post, please give me a reply.
Newbies are being discriminated.
Stop this madness at once.

Shut the fuck up.

I was a newbie once too. And if you notice most newbies ARE intelligent and drop into rational debate etc.

You however have proven to be a fool.

I might take you a little more seriously if most of the newbies on the board signed some type of petition demanding these "rights."

We judge a newbie by their actions, so far yours have been less than stellar. We're well aware that once we all bore the title newbie. However, we don't now. Around here you treated as your conduct merits.

And lastly, it's an initiation. You don't like it get the hell out of here.

You seem to be under the impression that this is a democracy or some such. If you want to be treated as intelligent, if you want to be treated as an adult, then act it. Respect is earned, not a right.

What they said :)

Besides, since you tried to poke a fellow newbie (Boba) for having a lower post-count than you even though he joined up before you did, you can't talk.

EDIT: see http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?t=6830

Can I just say that I don't like poking? But apart from that, you are newbie who tried to poke another newbie, tst tst tst, very bad form.

Personally, I don't poke newbies. But I must admit that I was sorely tempted when I saw this particular newbie poking a fellow newbie.

While I would have worded it in a more polite manner, I agree.

Recommend that we not blindly adopt the Spacebattles poking thing and instead come up with something else .... perhaps the Imperial bitch-slap or something similar...

I usually don't discriminate against reasonable newbies. I have repeatedly advocated a position that people here be granted respect based on what they earn through intelligent posts. Newbies who are smart, ask the right questions, and make the right points will be listened to. Newbies who are dumb, obnoxious, and make poor points will be mocked. That is all.

In your particular case, you may have been lurking here for some time, but you also did not appear to learn anything from your tenure as a lurker. You brought up old points and made posts as if you did not want respect. I will not stand in the way of people who wish to "poke" newbies, although I personally will never participate in such an archaic custom. Moreover, newbies are not discriminated against beyond being poked (and their status as newbies pointed out). I have seen numerous instances of newbies being welcomed to the board due to their intelligent points. Other times, I have seen newbies get their questions answered quite easily merely by requesting them. I have observed that the majority of people who "poke" or otherwise abuse newbies are usually not the ones who make the best points on such topics. Thus, the fact that they continue to make irrelevent points is non-discriminatory. They would not have made good points if the newbie had had one thousand posts.

Finally, yes, we were all newbies once, too. All of us paid our dues and became moderators. Some of us paid our dues and now have bloated post-counts. The fact that you are unwilling to pay your dues gracefully is not likely to endear you to the masses, who have also paid their dues. Now that you are already a Youngling, you are pretty safe from being poked. If I were you I would just put this unfortunate incident behind yourself and begin making the best posts you can--really add to the board as best you can. Respect will come, in time, if you add to discussions and make reasonable points.

What a coincidence, your behavior is that of a rebellious serf. You have to earn respect around here. When I was a newbie, I earned my respect by making intelligent conversation and contributing to debates. All you do is whine about how no one respects you, and not a lot of people here like whiners. Most of the time, newbies are treated with considerable respect. Most of the time the first thing they do is not to run around and spam the boards while re-hashing old arguments. I tried to grant you respect, in your first thread. The fact that you would turn around and do this is indicative of a person who does not want more respect.

EXCELLENT idea Mr. jegs2! I was a bit embarrased when I saw poking migrate here, a board of this caliber needs something original.
Hey Lord Sauron Tyrannus Vader, have an IMPERIAL BITCH SLAP on me!

That's a good point. When first I arrived on the scene, nobody wrote a word to me about being a newbie. Nor have I ever poked fun at anyone else for being new and posting. Conversely, I was quickly assaulted on SB.COM for being new. From what I've seen, nobody here assaults the new folks unless they stick their foot in their mouth reapeatedly or paint a bull's-eye on their fourth point of contact.

Ok, guys, im sorry. I'll try to change. I hope you all can forgive me for my whining. I had no right to do that. I truly want to contribute constructively to debates. It's just that lately ive been in a slump. So, to everyone, I' sincerly sorry.
God bless you all.

Well as a newbie who just changed into a youngling.....All I can say is the Mods here are not that bad. Most are nice and help out when you need it, others at other boards can not be so nice but than again they are the mods. Remember you must walk before you run.

If you where in the Core Lord Sauron-Tyranus-Vader you would have had your ass kicked, for saying that in the group.

and yes I was in the core (6 years), and no I did not get my ass kicked (well I did but not by guys in my unit). I kept my mouth shut. and just answered ....SIR YES SIR!!

Your right.
I should never hacve said anything, and I regret it. For all those I have offended, I am sorry.
I'm changing.
And no more whining from me. Time for me to get with the game here.

True, but your behavior to date has been both dumb and naive, not to mention being disrespectful.
2. Newbies are people, and most people get pissed when they poked. No poking.
Bite me *poke*
3. Don't talk to newbies like they're children: they're not.
Yeah, but you sure as hell are acting like a whiny brat, and as such deserve to be treated as one. You come here and act like a dick and you want respect? Go fuck yourself.
4. Remeber, at one time even the moderators were newbies.
Besides the fact that you can't spell "remember", what the hell is your point?
5. Newbie status cannot be bypassed, dont blame people for being newbies.
We don't blame people for being newbies, we just hate arrogant jackasses who think the rules don't apply to them. Once again, you act like a fool, you'll get treated like one.

Sadly, I made a mistake. I got several angering private messages from 'someone' and I assumed it was common pratice on this board. It was follish to eve nbring up this topic. And Im sorry. For the 2nd time.
