I CANNOT STRESS

Post by haas mark »

How much Windows 2000 sucks my ass. It takes forever to load anything, and decides when AIM is going to work for me and when it is not, not the server. FUCK WIN2K!!!

W2K is pretty stable...Oh, well... Maybe it's the connection, or the browser, that happenned to me quite a few times in the past.

hmm, Win 2000 is a rather good system, to me at least. It seems to be the windows that Microsoft didn't screw up... it's probably the browser or could be the computer, that or the install went poop

Not even Windows 95 will do that Verilon, don't be so quick to blaim the operating system, Just like when I stub my toe at night I don't rase a fist to the celing and scream DAMN FRENCHYS! no that would be Insane, the French had nothing to do with the toe-stubing and Windows 2k has nothing to do with your problem

It is...

1. A Virus

2.Highly Fragmented Harddrive

3.Corrupted Files for AIM

4.Bad/MISSING/Under 128 Megs of Ram

5.Gnomes

6.Spyware/Spamwhere thats checking to see what your computer is doing ATM

7. RAAA software(Viruslike) that fucks up your computer and was released on Kaazaa and Morpheious a week or so back, its a Combination Spyware/Virus thing that runs a check every time you open a program and is so baddly coded it more often than not fuckes up your compture
Self installing

Check for these things first before you blaim the OS for Bad preformance

XP is pretty good. I never tried 2000 though I stayed with Win 98 SE right up until XP came out thank god.

Of course by pretty good I mean it still sucks- it's M$.

Speaking of which, which is better ICQ or AIM? I've used ICQ for ages ... my UIN is EXTREMELY low :)

It seems everyone uses AIM on SD.net

I've never had that problem with Win2K. AIM is just a piece of horseshit anyway. I'm more inclined to blame the network or your install of AIM. What version are you using?

Woot! No joke, that is the best piece of software I ever downloaded. Xanadu (a translator program) is a distant second. It gives access to the following IM programs: MSN, ICQ, IRC, AIM, and Y!. Best of all, there's still a free version on www.trillian.cc, version .74. I still use .73, since the new one removed the names of the messengers from the bottom buttons, which I like. Updates have slowed since the Pro version came out.

Just save the .73 skin, upgrade and then replace the .74 skin with it...
I do that with 1.0 Pro. I haven't paid for it because I think it doesn't have anything new :) in fact the default skin just plain sucks.
