Worst Movies of the Year

There have been some major bombs this year, but which one takes the cake?
In my opinion, it's Swept Away.
God, I totally HATED that movie.
Madonna needs a court order telling her not to act anymore.
I've included the biggest flops of the year in the poll, not the worst artistically because people have many different opinions.

Solaris was just released. You kind of have to give films a bit of time to earn money.

Oh, man, there are so many bad movies...

Ballistc: Ecks vs Sever
Santa Clause 2
The Hot Chick
8 Crazy Nights
Master of Disguise

and many more! added as I think of them.

And Solaris was decent; better than Traffic, at least (god, Traffic was pretentious).

8 Crazy Nights... I feel like strangling Adam Sandler to death everytime I see a commercial for it...

Ecks vs. Sever looks like a bad Charlie's Angels remake (that's saying something).

Like the (vast) majority of people, I have not seen Pluto Nash, but I can't say that I want to. After Beverly Hills Cop Eddie Murphy went so far downhill so quickly that I don't think his name carries any weight with me anymore, but the worst film of the year would appear to be 8 Crazy Nights. It looks like the worst animated film in the history of the Earth.

Anything that didn't have "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings", or "Star Wars" in the title.

BLUE CRUSH!!!!

OMG, this movie was sooooooooo bad. I'm not going to tell y'all why I went in the first place because you'll think so much less of me, but let's just say that the movie was HORRENDOUS!!! Just surfer people swimming the whole time!! Even the big emotional talk was in a pool!! Like Frank DeCaro said about it, "Oh, somebody just throw a toaster in there!!"

Black Knight
Worst. Movie. Ever.

Mr. Deeds was really awful.

BTW, Black Knight came out in 2001.

Anything that wasn't a Studio Ghibi film or was a Star Wars, LotR, or Harry Potter movie sucked, with the exception of the Red Green movie, which is what a comedy movie should be.

I'm pretty sure it came out in Australia (where I am located) this year.

Errr, I guess. I'm not into chicks, though, so that part was sort of lost on me. And the guys I went with said that novelty wore off pretty damn fast after we realized there was no plot and hardly any DIALOGUE at all!!

Warning: There may be some spoilers here but I'd advise against watching the movie in the first place.

Hot chicks were the only reason I even went to see the movie. The star Kate Bosworth certainly looked good on the movie poster. Let me just say that I was EXTREMELY let down by the lack of sexiness in the movie. Bosworth looked nice at some moments, but she looked too bony sometimes. Michelle Rodriguez is a freaking tomboy, their other friend was nasty, and the younger sister was only around 14. What I was left with was a crappy, boring chick flick "plot". Even though the main character was supposedly a serious surfer who dreamed of becoming a champion all her life, she spent the better part of the movie chasing after some guy rather than training for an upcoming competition. In the end, she completely choked up and was eliminated from the competition, although she did pull off one perfect 10 surf. I was thinking "What, THIS is the big triumphant ending!?" A crappy end to a crappy movie.

Yeah, well, my friends and I got drunk first and thought that would make the movie watchable and hopefully even funny (it's sort of a tradition with a couple of my friends, to drink and then watch a bad movie). Didn't turn out funny or even watchable. However, we were the only ones in the theater so we could be as rude to the movie as we wanted.

Besides, you can HARDLY call that movie a chick flick. Not even close. Chick flicks have substance; they may be too goopey for guys to get into usually, but they aren't completely lame, pointless, boring and a waste of money for everyone involved like this movie was. Give us ladies a bit more credit, eh?

Scooby Doo, the movie freaking suck porcupine balls. I liked the cartoon and still to this day watch it from time to time on the cartoon channel, but I only lasted about 45 minutes or so, of the movie. Blaaaahhhhhh.

Men in Black II was stupid. I can't really recall any other bad movies since most of the ones I've seen this year were good.

There's a Red Green movie?!? Kick ass. Must find it. I loved that show.

Has anyone here seen Solaris? I'm looking forward to seeing it. The book was awesome, and although I haven't seen it, the russian version is supposed to be one of the finest in SF film history. The director (whose name I forget) has been called the Kirosawa of Russia.

I haven't seen the new one, thought I'd like to.

I've read the book and have seen the original Russian film. It's very, very good. The "liquid oxygen" scene is particularly creepy.

I remember the liquid oxygen scene from Abyss. Heh, I almost choked.

The situation in Solaris is quite different from the ones in The Abyss.

In The Abyss, it was a fluerocarbon (and in early 1960s tests, a saline solution). Your run of the mill liquid breathing system.

In Solaris, it was real liquid oxygen, as in hundreds of degrees below freezing.

SPOILERS FOR 1972 VERSION OF SOLARIS:

In the film, the "aperition" of Kelvan's wife can't really "die", but can be "killed". She's actually "killed" several times, which includes the point where she drinks liquid oxygen, freezing/burning her insides. Within about a minute, she starts coming back to life, and it's quite creepy and a little disturbing.

I've seen that fleurocarbon experiment performed live on a rat. Damn freaky and totally cool. Rat once its lungs got used to it was quite happy and stopped panicking. Then when removed, it coughed up the fluid and resumed normal breathing. Kinda creepy.

I've quite liked all the films I've seen this year, but MIBII is probably the worst.

The best is probably 28 Days Later, but Monsters, I.N.C. was fantastic too.
