Verizon Online DSL. I'm not entirely sure exactly how fast it is, but there are very, very few websites that take more than five seconds to load. If I hook up with someone else with a broadband connection on Kazaa, I can typically download something at 30+ kb/s. Other than some initial start-up problems (I signed up the same day they were doing server upgrades, it turned out), I haven't had a problem with the service, either technically or with the billing, and for all its faults, Verizon DOES have an excellent customer service department.

I have cable.

I plug my phone line into my internal DSL modem and then click "ADSL connection" on my start bar, then click 'Dial".

That's how I connect.

I forgot to post about myself ...

I use Hanaro Telecom VDSL service.

Upload speed is 52Mpbs(I usually get about 3500kb/s)
Download speed is again 52Mbps(I usually get about 4500kb/s)

It cost's about USD $20 a month with a setup fee of about USD $10.

I like it very very very much.

Before VDSL(it's been about 6 months) I used KT ADSL(11Mbps up/down).

I got a DSL line.
Just click on Internet Explorer,and its on.
Simple as that.

you see, that´s what i´m talking about. even third world countries like portugal have cable for privat people. and in germany the best thing i can get is dsl, but that´s like 40 euro per month. the deutsche telekom is a fucking monopolist who owns the whole cable system. other providers have to rent cable from the telekom, and that doesnt make them cheaper.
then there´s this idiotic thing - sky dsl - for people who live in little villages where you cant get anything better than isdn. they recieve the data with their tv satelite dish and send data via isdn/modem. even more expensive than normal dsl and slower as well.

erm... what? i said that it´s not available for regular people. only companies and unis and stuff like that can afford cable.

Qwest DSL...considerably faster than dial-up, so I've no gripes.

From home I dial up with Now we know whose really evil...or very masochistic

768/128 ADSL. Previously we had a 112 ISDN line and before that standard dial-up.

Most cable modems use TV cable to connect to the internet. The speed
is comparable to DSL. Call by call can get pretty expensive if you are
online alot. . T1 or better connections are available in some german
cities - they are part of the rental there.

T1 would be unaffordable though, i guess.

Free school dialup. With a stupid two hour limit.

In the US, T1 prices have been going down a bit due to competition with DSL circuits.

384/128 DSL. Its a small provider but the lines are SBC.
Very good speed, more than I pay for. Its been down a few times
in the last months. Like today email is non-funtioning.

I have a DSL to my school's server.

I use a Cable Line at home and a T5 at work
