Seafood Sucks

I don't understand how anyone can possibly like this. When I eat my food, I do not want it to resemble what it looked like before the execution. I do not like it when my dinner appears to be capable of sitting up and walking off the plate. Lobsters, crab, and fish with skin on is not aestetically pleasing. It's scary as hell and reminds me of Alien.

And the taste...ick. I mean....ick. Lobster; you have have to fight your way through a layer of armor, avoid looking at it's dead, burning eyes, and then suck on it's got-damned leg, which it probably used to stratch it's ass at some point, just to get some 'juicy' meat that tastes like...well, crap. Just 'not good'.

And mussels? Scollops? Ek! Not only does the meat look like flubber, it's incredibly nasty. It looks nasty, and it tastes nasty, and it's damn near impossible to open.

And crab? Seriously. Any meat that you need a mallet to eat cannot be that good. And it's not. See my lobster quote.

But fish? Eeew. I mean, when I buy a T-bone steak, it is not attached to any significant cow body-part. But fish have tiny needly bones, and eyes, and- icky. I have never eaten a good fish. I thought it was just in my mind. But then I was tricked into eating fish.

And I hated it.

I mean, just...how? How is this likable? What do people see in seafood?

Well... For one, it offers variety. I personally like squid (chewy!). Then there's fish, where the flesh is pretty tender. Forget about the bones, just swallow them.

Swallow them?

Goddamn! NO!

And squid? Gah...whenever I eat squid, I can swear I see it twitching. It creeps the fuck out of me.

For me it has a nice flavor with spices...sorta like chicken but less predetermined taste for a meat.

Beef has a heavy feel, while Pork and chicken have light but certain distinctions.

Seafood has some smells(though I prefers shellfish) that are pretty much glossed over with a decent sauce and usually provides a delicate fare.

As for you displeasure I doubt anyone will change it, but that is why I like it.

Pansy.

'K, mussels and scallops I have a hard time defending, but lobster and crab?!! Mmmmmmmm. You have to work so hard to get it because it's just that fucking good. *wistful sigh* Yummmm.

I had a rather nice cup of New England Clam Chowder today. I also enjoy fish filets, especially flounder. I think I had trout once. And every year when I go to the local annual festival I always get a plate of baked clams, since they are sooooo good.

I don't eat crab or lobster, though. Too much effort, too little reward ;) I don't want to have to work for food, then work some more when I get my food :D

Besides with Crab and Lobster...I get a kick at ripping them apart...more fun than carving :D

I just cannot enjoy the meat of an animal when the eyes of said animal are staring me in the face...

If the eyes annoy you then dig them out with a fork. Though the only seafood I could say I really enjoy is salmon.

A good way to sovle your problume reguarding being squeamish around food because it looks nearly live would be to go hunting. Once you've shot a deer, finished it off via knife, skinned it and eaten the flesh I doubt you will be much bothered by lobster.

Bah. I'm with Cyril. Endotherms only for me, thanks. You forgot to mention shrimp, by the way. My family doesn't appreciate it when I tell them a shrimp is basically a seagoing grasshopper.

Pfft...your loss...as I said I enjoy the taste...so have others

I mean it's dead..I don't care if it's staring at me or not...it tastes good the look doesn't affect much or there are a variety of alcoholic drinks I would've never touched(stuff that glows and has smoking billowing is not good)

I generally don't like eating the creepier examples of sea life.

Um, no thank you. I prefer to purchase my food in a sterile, slightly chilly, poorly decorated supermarket. I would like to avoid covering my hands in blood, guts, and gore; because next thing I know I'll be wearing a loincloth and dancing around a campfire singing war songs.

Shrimp I can tolerate, but ONLY if they are covered in copious amounts of garlic and olive oil. Otherwise, no way.

Sounds like someone who is so far disconnected from nature that he has lost his intuitive grasp of the origins of food. The only difference between seafood and burgers is that you can't ignore the fact that seafood was once alive. If you are always cognizant of that fact anyway, it doesn't bother you. A cow is every bit as alive as a lobster.
And the taste...ick. I mean....ick. Righto. Best to eat packed meat instead, which has been processed through machinery which grinds up bones, intestines, and anus into a fine paste which is indistinguishable from the rest of the "meat", slap it into a hot dog bun, and CHOW DOWN!!!

No thanks; I actually like knowing that there's a short, identifiable chain of events between living food and my dinner plate.
And mussels? Scollops? Ek! Not only does the meat look like flubber, it's incredibly nasty. It looks nasty, and it tastes nasty, and it's damn near impossible to open.
You're still pretty young, aren't you? I have found that this kind of picky eating is common in children. No offense meant, but that's the vibe I'm getting.
And crab? Seriously. Any meat that you need a mallet to eat cannot be that good. And it's not. See my lobster quote.
Lobster and crab are delicious. And I love cracking the shell; it reminds me that I'm eating a real animal and I can pick and choose which parts I want, rather than inadvertently ingesting processed pig anus, the way you do from hot dogs.
But fish? Eeew. I mean, when I buy a T-bone steak, it is not attached to any significant cow body-part.
Of course not; just the big bone
But fish have tiny needly bones, and eyes, and- icky.
Don't eat the fucking eyes, then! A well-prepared piece of salmon is a fine dining experience, especially with bearnaise sauce.
I have never eaten a good fish. I thought it was just in my mind. But then I was tricked into eating fish.

And I hated it.
You have too many psychological problems to relax and enjoy the experience. Either that, or you got a poorly prepared fish.
I mean, just...how? How is this likable? What do people see in seafood?
It tastes good. It lends variety to the dining experience. You don't feel as bloated afterwards. You get to know precisely which parts of the animal you're eating (not like hot dogs or ground beef). You are closer to nature, as you must confront and accept the fact that you kill and eat other living beings for sustenance. It is good for your health. There are lots of reasons.

Pfft...I go fishing with buds...no war stories or songs...just laziness and drinking while trying to grab a large one.

Though gutting that thing took a bit to getting used to :P

*Attacks Cyril with pot* You batard! Hating my boiled crawfish, fried blue channel catfish, grilled red snapper, shrimp gumbo, seafood gumbo, and my crawfish eutofee!*Calms down* Right....I think I went too far that time.

It's perfectly sterile till the bullets rip though the flesh. Most of my hunting trips have been pretty cold as well. Little blood around your shirt cuffs while your hands a partly coated is part of the fun. The real fun involve the super sonic chunks of lead and the nervous brown targets.

What's the matter with some pig anus? It's not like they don't hose it out first.

A1 is the solution.
Lobster and crab are delicious. And I love cracking the shell; it reminds me that I'm eating a real animal and I can pick and choose which parts I want, rather than inadvertently ingesting processed pig anus, the way you do from hot dogs.
I hate lobster. Crab I can eat, but would prefer not to.
Of course not; just the big bone
Yep. There is a distinct lack of eyes, nostrils, mouth, gills, claws, or anything resembling the sort.

I guess it is just my personal preference. I do not find most seafood to taste good, with the noted exception of shrimp in certain cases. It just does absolutely nothing for me.

And, I'm sorry, but I find the image of someone cracking open the shell of just-killed, gigantic bug, and then proceeding to suck it's innards out to be absolutely revolting. It kills any pleasure I could take from that experience.

i'm into sushi. raw fish is like the best...

btw, with lobsters, crabs, crayfish, etc. half the fun is playing "what's this funky organ" and popping the eyes, as well as swordfighting with the antennae. (no i am not joking, nothing's funner than a pot of crabs and a table covered with newspaper.)

yeah but some of us rather prefer the use of fire for malicious reasons, and prefer to eat meat that's still dripping blood.
