Picked up an interesting book yesterday...

It's called 21st Century Soldier: The Weapons, Gear, and Technology of the New Century.

Anyone else picked this up yet? It's a good read.

Who's the author?

I don't think it has an individual author, but it was published by Time Inc.

It's one of their specials.

Let me guess the special PopSci issue? Too much "yay we've got cool shit" and too little real understanding how these things work.

It comments on present-day weapons and vehicles (Aircraft, Armor, Ships, and such) and then shows their possible successors. Pretty cool book. I liked all the possible futuristic weapons and the like.

If you're into the military like me, you should like it. :)

It probably is like that if its from Time. In almost every magazine or show about future weapons, Ive never seen any questions asked wether or not such developments are needed or will be usefull in a real fight.

I do give credit to the TV show Future Fighting, they occasionally poke fun at the "its high tech so it must be better" mentality.
