What if You Found porn on the CEO's computer?

I was installing some software updates on my CEO's computer and as part of my usual process I scanned for porn and found plenty of it. He thinks he is hiding his internet porn use but he's not as smart as he thinks he is. We have a policy that clearly states that you will be fired if you are caught with porn on your computer. So what to do? He was established a no-firearms on premises policy as well which makes me want to stick it to him on this porn. But I'm not sure I could get him fired and if he is not fired then I'm sure he would find a way to get rid of me. I would have to report to the board of directors and then it would be up to them to fire him. He could also deny that it's him getting the porn, and could be his word against mine. The porn is pretty regular stuff, no gay or child porn. What would you do?
I love some of the comments:
LOL,

About a month ago, the company that I work for changed Telcomm providers due to the shaky financial status of their then provider.

After experiencing some network issues, I turned proxy logging "on" for diagnostic purposes. Well when I examined the log, I was shocked to say the least. Dept. Managers cruising porns site all day long, etc.

What shocked me the most though was the actions of the CEO. It appears as though he dials in to the Corp. Network from home each evening (like clockwork)and from about 20:00 to 02:00 each morning he is visiting "questionable" sites

Don't even tell me to keep my mouth shut about this, I know better. If this were to come to light, I would be the surely be the one to lose.

Below is a very small "snippet" of his "activities" from last night, edited to protect the suckers identity. You see his username and password to the member sites are displayed in clear text.

Feast your eyes on how the CEO of a 350mil company spends his evenings:

Ignore it, never speak about it to anyone, and move on.

At the last company I worked for, the HR dept. got the bright idea to do a company wide porn sweep. So they instructed one of the IT guys to check the log files and note any porn web site access. Later, he informed HR that it would be better that they just forget about it and move on. HR was not happy with his response and demanded a report. So, it turned out the person with the most porn site access was the president of the company, and from there it went down, with management downloading the most porn, and the average worker downloading only a little or none at all. It's obvious who had the most free time on their hands.

The report made its way to the CEO, who reprimanded the president, but didn't fire him or anything like that. Following the reprimand, the president fired senior management in HR, the two middle-management women in HR who had the bright idea, and last but not least, the poor IT guy who didn't want to get involved at all.

No one else was fired, although some managers were demoted, received pay cuts, and were suspended.

So, my advise is to keep out of it.

If you embarrass the CEO, you can kiss your job goodbye.
Having a corporate policy that fires employees who surf for porn doesn't mean jack - especially if it's a big dog doing the surfing. I worked at a company who had the same policy, until a big dog accidentally printed one of those jpg's and didn't realize it. What a dipshit. A female women found the printout, the word got out, and all of a sudden, the new policy became "There will be no looking around by any IT nerds for porn on company computers." What a Dilbert world we live in.
EDITED for more accurate title.....

Blackmail the CEO.

Maybe he could print out all of those logs and then blackmail him by theatening to send them all over the Internet and to newspapers.

"What? No paid sick days???"
(Looks around to see no one is around.)
"I have an offer you can't refuse..."
:P

Well, it wouldn't really have to be blackmail. Just say something like, "Hey Mr. X, you really should be more careful about who you let use your computer. I found some porn on there today. Just thought you should know."

Plausible deniability, but the CEO would end up owing you.

that's rotten shit, and the way they deal with it is even worse. <steps outside to avoid the stink of corporate corruption>

It's just porn. I'd ask the CEO if he could get some member accounts on the company expense account.

It would depend on the CEO. My last CEO I would worry if it was a trap, to judge my response. If I said nothing, he might can me for not doing my job.
If I said something he might can me for not being a team player.

I might mention that no personal files should be on company property and leave it at that.

That's quite pathetic IMO...you'd have to be seriously depraved to do that...

Sounds like my former supervisors at Worldcom. Literally...I know a few that would think you 'failed a test because gee whiz, you didn't report me.' Another who would've canned me because I was going against the 'team'...deluded bastards the lot of them.

Besides I just exploited the fact I was the only person who wanted to work on Christmas week(the week mostly everyone else has some form of going to see family time)...if they tried to piss me out of a raise, which I did eventually about two years(or will be soon enough).

*sigh* I've gotten into this before....but to ask your CEO would be depraved. TO go look for it yourself wouldn't be. TO ask your CEO would indicate desperation.

I'd sell the story, along with screenshots, to every newspaper and TV station in a 50 mile radius.

I could see it now...

"CEO BIGGEST PERVERT IN COMPANY"

Oh yes.

Make sure he knows that you don't care and won't say a word to anyone... and this is probably your best option, if you really feel a need to "do" something. Otherwise, I'd say forget it. I worked for a company that had a "no firearms" policy too; I worked the graveyard shift though and some sketchy peoople came in at night. I packed heat-- very discreetly. I think management knew but no one said anything, damn sure the employees with me didn't. They were glad, 'cause some oddballs liked to stop by a lot.

Why? It's like asking for a company car. It's a perk, and who wouldn't want a few extra perks?

There's the old "I heard that the company is going to do a big porn sweep, if you have any, you better take it off." That could work. Of course not if it's the head boss.

True, but porn is not a car. Porn and cars are very different. And this time I will not spend 8 hours debating you. If you really want to do this, PM me and expect a respons ein half an hour when I get back online.

Dude it's not even funny over here in Yosemite.

We have had a few scandels over here.

Most notably when the FBI were looking for the Three missing tourists, I had a supervisor who collected Kiddie Porn. We kept filing harrassment complaints against him, but he kept it up, and a number of employees quit or were fired because they physically assulted him when he was shoving this shit in our faces.

One good thing about the FBI's investigation, was that one day he didn't show up to work, and the FBI did. They had found out about him looking for Cary Stayner.

Of course the company removed all of the free internet computers from employee recreation as a result.

I think the IT guy should copy the good pics and print them out, and stick them on the CEO's office walls. That should be good for a laugh!

And at the same time have logs and hardcopies made in case he decides to be an ass about it and try to fire you. Then you could try and sic an employment board or some worker's rights group on his ass and tie him up in court for a while.
