Hearts of Iron 1.02 patch (for Stravo)

The new patch really does do a lot...Alliances are now worth it, because
the ally nations will now actually place their own units under YOUR control
by forming Expeditionary Forces, and you can now merge ally units
under your control....
I've also modified the game to halve the IC costs of all the units except
for Naval units, what this means is that the USSR now has 116+ divisions
in the game, as opposed to about 50+ in the unmodded HoI...

Hey Shep, I thought the new patch wasn't coming out for another few weeks. I have been ADDICTED to this damned game now for two weeks, its wreacking havoc with my social life, sleep cycles and its keeping me off the board on the weekends. There's nothing like the visceral joy you get as Germany as you land Panzer divisions in the Northeast and start sweeping down across New York, Washington and Chicago. The epic battle fought on the Ohio River valley between Rommel and Patton that left hordes of wrecked Panthers and Shermans littering the landscape as the sound of the marching Panzergrenadiers entering Chicago filter through the landscape...but what is this...its December 1948 and the game ends...ARGH!!!
OR the sheer joy I get as the US when I explode my first atomic bomb at the trinity test site in October 1940. I look with glee to the West where the Germans are sweeping the continent clear and invasion fleets gather for Operation Sea Lion. Within a year the American fleet has swept the seas clear of Nazi scum and a massive invasion armada departs from the ports of Manchester and South Hampton. The Germans mass at the coast ready to ward us off, but suddenly their divisons evaporate in nuclear fire as the first landing boats head for shore.
Within six months, Patton is in Berlin and the Thousand year Reich comes to a fitful end.
Anyway, thanks for the heads up because I recently started experiencing some nasty bugs like crashing to desktop like clockwork. Its a fun gane but buggy as hell.
Thanks for making me give up what little life I had to this game Shep!!

I have some mods for the game, which automatically assign division
names to your new units:
9.SS-Panzer-Div. 'Hohenstaufen'
10.SS-Panzer-Div. 'Frundsberg'
12.SS-Panzer-Div. 'Hitlerjugend'
etc etc
And also replace the strangely undescriptive tank names with:
PzKpfw II A-F(20mm)
PzKpfw II A-F(30mm)
PzKpfw II A-F(40mm)
PzKpfw II L-M(30mm)
PzKpfw II L-M(40mm)
PzKpfw II L-M(50mm)
PzKpfw II L-M(70mm)
PzKpfw III(MG)
PzKpfw III(30mm)
and so on that tells you what weapon they have

Alternative history events and a more deadly Officer Purge by the USSR
Of course, this is dependent on the Event Scripters on paradox's HoI
forums found HERE:
http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum ... forumid=79
Although I said I was finished with the events, I stumbled across another set of events that had to be written, for USSR, Iran and Iraq.
1) Pro-axis coup in Iraq
2) Allies demand access to Iran
3) USSR moves capital to Kuybushev
4) Hitler invites USSR to the Tripartite pact.
And there is a alternate history USSR mod:
"Purge him before he purges you"
Beginning in early 1932, officers in the Red Army
became increasingly upset by the brakes imposed by the
Communist Party on the development of Russian military power.
Mainly consisting of former czarists and members of the
bourgeoisie, Marshal Mikhail Tukhachevsky emerged as the
leader of a movement that wanted to institute a pro-German
military dictatorship mimicking the French Revolution, with himself
as the "Russian First Consul". On May 8 1937, the political
commissar system was reintroduced in the Red Army.
Tukhacevsky recognized this as his conspiracy being
unveiled, and decided to lauch a premature coup d'etat. Following
a palace revolt in the Kremlin, Stalin was assassinated on May 11
1937. Faced with the possibility of a civil war instead of a swift
commandeering, Tukhacevsky decided to abandon his original
plan and replace Stalin as general secretary with Leon Trotsky.
Having never swayed from his opposition against Stalin, the
former founding father was conceived as the only measure of
excusing the coup and murder of Stalin in the people's eyes.
While Trotsky shared Stalin's domestic policy of rapid
industrialization, he rejected the idea about "socialism in one
country", and upon returning from his exile in Mexico he resumed
advocating world revolution and global communism.

On another note...are there any "mods" that allow you to play past 1948?
I was planning to conquer the world, and am afraid that 1948 is a somewhat harsh deadline
