Dreamcatcher Interactive sends word they have signed Derek Smart and will be releasing his next two games with an option for a third. Here's a cut from the pr:

DreamCatcher Interactive announced today that it has signed famed game designer, Derek Smart, to a multi-game agreement. Smart is well-known for developing the Battlecruiser series of games. DreamCatcher will be releasing his next two games, with an option on the third -- a still-to-be-announced Xbox title.

Richard Wah Kan, DreamCatcher President is pleased with the signing. "Derek has a great reputation for producing high quality, innovative games, and his next two will be no exception. His flair and enthusiasm are a great fit with DreamCatcher and really demonstrates our commitment to both our developer partners and our customers."

Derek Smart can go fuck a donkey for all I care. What he makes is shit that is easily outclassed by everything else on the market and is incompatible with nearly everything but the computer that he pieced it together on.

Actually I like BC3K- V2.9, all others were buggy.
I hate the guy personally. On his bbs he is a bit mean. Of course few software developers even communicate with their fanbase, anyways, so better than nothing. However I would have never known about SD.net until I picked up a sci-fi vs thread in that bbs.

The fucker who made the Battlecruiser series of games, which were buggy as hell, and who insulted and bitched and cussed at everyone everywhere who ever said his games were buggy.

To be fair, he insists that it was not his fault the game was buggy- Take 2 Interactive released it out early and it was an absolute disaster. He HAS been trying hard for the past few years- he managed to fix the original release, and released a new version called Battlecruiser Millenium.

However, the game's hampered by it's own size- it routinely got around 70% in reviews- though the game does have many fans. It sounds cool to me- I'd probably pick it up if I saw it anywhere (Millenium, not the patched Bc3000ad- I have the patched version- an Interplay rep sent it to me free- but by that point it was too antiquated to enjoy)

It was part of a post where I also made mention that it absolutely despised my system for no real reason and that nothing in it worked, that it lacked joystick support among other things.

After copping a serve from nearly every one of his cultists (I'm telling you, these guys are more dangerous than cultists of Tulzscha) then the man himself came down from his pedestal to slap me across the face for daring to defy his greatness.

And to this day I have completely despised that pustule on the face of humanity...

I mean he and his followers could have offered constructive advice to help me out (I had after all wasted several days downloading it), but no... They had to bitch at me.

Fuck them. Fuck them all the way to hell. Then sell the donkeys they rode into town on to those fuckers at WCOTC.

And fuck Derek Smart with a dozen John Holmes clones.
