Have fun. Speaking of skiing, what's the point of cross-country skiing anyway? And why do they call it cross-country skiing when you don't actually cross the country?

Because years ago and in snowy places it was the only way to quickly and efficiently cross-country.

Have a lovely holiday and a great time skiing. I'm going on a New Year's trip to the Poconos with my friends for the same thing! Although I probably won't ski...but, yeah, anyway--have a great time!!

Hey dude, see if you can ski yourself into a dictionary and look up the correct spelling for "losers"
Come on, you're from sb.com, you should know how to spell "losers" by now!

Hmm, Just had a massive heat wave hit my city. ~40 Degrees Centigrade for a few days in a row. And the hotest parts of the year is yet to come
Mid ~30 Degrees Centigrade, thats just a relatively cool summer day.
The only time I've actually touched snow is when I went to Canada to vist some relatives when I was much younger.
Alyeska, hope you have a good vacation!

Yup, Western Australia. One of the driest continents on Earth (Antarctica is drier
)
It has cooled down a lot, should be a pleasant +20 degrees for the week(if the weather man isnt wrong
)
Dont think Perth (W.A.) experiances dry hot days, they are almost always hot & humid. Evaporative air conditioning is useless, when you really need it (+40 degree days), you can almost wring out your shirt.

Sure we do. In Tucson the ice doesn't break on the Santa Cruz River until the temperature breaks 100F (37.7778C). Still, most people around here would agree that 104 (~40C) is pretty hot.

That is in degrees Centigrade, the
proper temperature measure (Much easier to convert to Kelvin too).

I know you mountain folk are getting hit, but those of us on the coast never see a single flake.
