I'm not allowed to comment though about microsoft, and I'll try not to . Just posting this is kind of borderline

I'll also post all articles in one post to avoid being accused of inflating post count.
Fortunately I use an old printer that doesn't contain these chips (B&W Canon BJ-230)
It's an EU law that doesn't apply in the US anyhow. I despise HP for their printers and home computers.
Microsoft's castrated JVM in previous versions of windows couldn't run standalone java apps.
Anyways I agree that Macromedia's tech is superior. Java is slow. However Macromedia is limited to web GFX and such, and small games, while Java can function independently, so it's not a good comparison. There is also no OSS implementation of Flash.
