I liked the Two Towers more. But when it comes down to it I was much less satisfied with it as well, mostly in the special effects department and some of the action. Both had scenes, which desperately needed to be cut out completely.

The Two Towers: no contest.
After seeing TTT in the theatre, I kept reliving it in my mind, sifting through the incredible amount of information and detail (I have not read the books, reject of humanity that I am
) to piece together the story and try to pick up on as much of it as I can. After seeing SW: Attack of the Clones, I can barely remember more than half of the movie, let alone wish to relive any of it afterwards. Among other things, I felt the romance between Hayden and Natalie to be EXTREMELY forced and not at all pleasant to watch, as opposed to Viggo/Liv/Miranda... 
I keep having to shake myself to force myself to recall the fact that I have seen AotC as many times as I've seen TTT (twice for both), and only succeed in doing so because I vaguely remember Yoda kicking ass and the wedding at the end.

Without doubt, The Two Towers was the better film for myself. Although I liked Attack Of The Clones, found it a considerable improvement over The Phantom Menace, and am impressed with the movie's technical achievements, TTT provided the far richer cinematic experience, engaging me to the extent where I literally lose track of the time and just fall right into the movie.
AOTC was a good film, but it didn't capture my attention as thoroughly as TTT.

I don't know. There were things I would have desperately liked to change about both movies, even though I enjoyed them both. AOTC starts shakily and finishes strong. TTT starts strong and finishes shakily (I was not impressed with the Battle of Helms Deep).

The Star Wars prequels are slowly ruining star wars for me. "Phantom Menace" was an atrocity. "Attack of the Clones" was a much better film, but if it didn't have so much eye candy to look at, the weak script would be glaring, and it would be a movie easily forgotten. Lucas has allowed the special effects in his prequels to steal the spotlight from the characters and his story.
the story for "the Two Towers" has so many sub-plots and so many interesting characters woven together into one big storyline. The special effects serve to enhance the story and bring it to life, and don't necessarily take the spotlight away from the characters and the plot. Two towers is the better movie by far.

Abysmally stupid tactics, armoured horsemen charging down a 30 degree incline at full gallop right into a line of pikemen without suffering any visible casualties (or broken legs on the run), Legolas turning his back on the Orcs crawling over the wall behind him so he can gloat about his kill-count to Gimli, the Orcs generally looking even more useless in battle than they appear in the books, etc. It was a neat-looking CGI-fest but I found it strangely uninvolving, perhaps because of the cornball tactics. Let's not forget Legolas "surfing" down the stairs during the battle. I think TTT is awesume but I was listening for the cowabunga at that point.

Yeah I think that was ruined by their insistance on no visual magic. As I recall Gandalf was using some bolts of destruction there. Not sure wether the slope was in the book. TTT is the better movie for me, although it did have its problems.
AOTC, well I never say it in the theatre after the bad taste Phantom Menance left. I tried watching AOTC on DVD at Fry's ( I had a lot of free time ) but could not stay interested.

AOTC seemed to have a more cohesive story in all. Maybe it's because I didn't read the book... I tried to read it, but it was extremely boring (7th grade textbooks taken from a dumpster near a school more interesting to read). If you need to read the book for the movie to make sense, the movie's screwed up.
I saw Ep2 once and understand exactly what happened in sequence and the story was very clear. With TTT, it's sort of blurry and it didn't really come together very well/
