Guy Fawkes had succeeded in his plot to blow up the English Parliament and King James I?
St. Paul was killed just before he left on his first voyage of proselyting?
The Americans had succeeded in the War of 1812 in taking Canada?
The Communist army under Mao Tse Tung was crushed?
The assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan had succeeded?
England had made peace with Nazi Germany after a long period of bombing?

The world would look like the cover of a harry turtledove novel.
1)Glorious Revolution probably would not have happened(I can't remember if Jim 2 was born before or after this, but probably before) American revolution that stemed for a need for human rights would be a lot different or not at all because of zero precident for rights(No Magna Carta).
2) Christianity would have stayed a sect in the ME, Rome may have risen again after years of darkness or Florence may have had its renassaince earlier or later, this one thing would have significantly changed history. The Germanic tribes would have stayed pagan for one.
3) The Civil war may have come earlier because of the liberal canadian stance, the US would have reformed or they would have become super reactionary and used the territories in the same way the USSR used Siberia. Could have gone either way.
4)Russia may have sent in troops or China would have raised a new army and started after Japan or Korea or Russia or Vietnam or the Middle east or may have reformed into a better society until the population recked the economy, assuming that immediately after the revolution all firms trying to get business in China would get it.
5)George Bush would have become president earlier and botched a CIA take over of an SA country, bringing world wide shame to the presidency the Demo.'s would have won in '88 and Desert storm would have happened very differently.
6)The Nazi's would have won, eventually breaking the Russians during spring of that year and occupying Britain for "security" keeping the Americans out and probably would have been able to develop the Bomb before the Americans

Honestly couldn't say.
St. Paul was killed just before he left on his first voyage of proselyting?
Christianity would have been seriously curtailed, if able to grow at all. Even if it did become a major religion, it would most likely be very different from the Christianity of today.
The Americans had succeeded in the War of 1812 in taking Canada?
It might have given the British an excuse to join with the South during the Civil War, sending troops in to reclaim it which would force the US to fight a war against two opponants on opposite borders. Whether this would force a US - Confederacy peace treaty or strengthen the Union's resolve to win, I don't know.
The Communist army under Mao Tse Tung was crushed?
Asia would look quite different than it does today. Korea would probably have ended up as one country after UN forces occupied NK, and the success there would encourage a stronger US policy in Vietnam, leading to the unification of that country.
The Cold War would have been different, because the USSR would face not only a US backed Western Europe, but a US led Asia as well
The assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan had succeeded?
Bush would have taken office earlier. Soviet Union Still collapses.
England had made peace with Nazi Germany after a long period of bombing?
The Nazis turn and focus their attention on Russia. Assuming that Pearl Harbor still happens, then the US focuses it's might on defeating Japan. The fighting is bloody, and possibly includes an invasion of the main Islands of Japan if nukes aren't in play by this point. Once nukes do come into play, you;re probably looking at a Cold War type scenario between the Nazis who control Europe, Part of Russia, North Africa and the Middle East versus The United States, Asia, and Parts of Russia still under control of the communists.

If Bush became president after Reagan's assassination, he would have a different VP, as Quayle was too young for the position at the time of the assassination.

The Magna Carta was much earlier then James I. The Magna Carta predated James I by 400 years.

What would have happened if the Great Library wasn't burnt down.
Wow, things that may have seem puny and not history affecting in the present might greatly affect the future. What would a world be like with the majority of the worlds population was pagan instead of Christian. A lot more fun methinks.

Ever read the book 'Fatherland'? That explores a scenario very close to this. Can't remember the author.

The author is Robert Harris.
There also was an HBO movie based on the book starring Rutger Hauer. Both are pretty good neither is great.
FYI: The book is basically a mystery set in an alternate reality.

Jim 1???? No after chuck 1 and jim 2 and chuck 2 and cornwall there was the glorious revolution and the dutch guy came over and signed the magna carta.
Jim 1 was an absolutist monarch of the same time of Hobbes, except he believed in divine right.
