Non-Science Fiction Shows that you HATE...

What shows (outside of sci-fi/fantasy) do you really dislike? I really have no time for overblown soaps such as East Enders, Neighbours, Home & Away and Coronation Street. But I ironically found Brookside much more entertaining after it "Jumped the Shark" and was spiralling towards cancellation. I find the recent Channel 4 smash hit, Deal or No Deal, very annoying and one note (plus it makes my mum clap like a retarded monkey).

But I find the current season of The OC to be a steaming pile of bollocks, I suffered through six or so episodes because Jeri Ryan was guest starring; but I found the whole show incredibly boring. Don't get me wrong, I like Mindy Clarke and Paul Gallagher but not even them could save The OC (in fact they're hardly in it now). And I can remember seeing snippets of The OC in it's first season (it seemed a lot more entertaining and tongue in check back then). In addition to that I feel that CSI: LV has lost steam; CSI: Mimi seems quite naff and although CSI: NY is moderately watchable there something midly wrong about that show that I can't put my finger on (even though I like the cast members, the production is slick and the writing is solid).

What mainsteam shows do you dislike now or in the past?

King of Queens. They're married, lol, it's funny because they're bogans!

Will and Grace. They're shopping, lol, it's funny because he's gay!

Any and all home improvement/decorating/garden/fuckass show.

NCIS. "Look, it's an asshole wanking about how great the Navy is ! Let's do a stupid quick cut again, someone might not be seasick yet ! Who needs deep characters when you've got stereotypes ?"

The only part of the show that's remotely watcheable are Ducky's scenes. It's like JAG, minus the competence.

*Any* sitcom about an obnoxious, clueless man inexplicably married to a hot, smart wife, which seems to be about 85% of current sitcoms.

Those braindead daytime phone games. "So the hint today is 'animal' and the letters are 'C.T'. Come on, call now and win €10K !"

Most sit-coms.

Most reality.

Most "drama"/soaps.

Most "home improvement"/lifestyle.

Most Australian sports broadcasting.

I hate every 'reality' TV show, and everything on MTV. All the people in those are always so full of shit. I woke from a nap in the living room and didn't want to move, and my sister was watching this dumbass show where a girl would go on two dates, and choose between the two guys she just dated and the dude she'd been dating for like.. a year beforehand. How the fuck would any semi-decent relationship be even vaguely effected by that? They always make that shit so dramatic. If I were ever on a show vaguely like that, I'd say, "fuck the dramatic bullshit ending, I won't pretend it was a hard decision."

"Alright, you on the left, the blonde. I've been on one date with you and don't know who the fuck you are. Bye. On the right, the brunette chick with the fake tits, I don't know a damned thing about you either. An hour isn't enough. Get lost. And the girl I've been dating for two years and am absolutely crazy for... come on, you didn't really think any of this would matter, would you? You're still my girl..."

Just saying, 'reality' drama shit is fucking retarded, and almost always involves self-obsessed pricks.

Anything on TLC, because some bullshit about a bride before her wedding or what draperies to buy for a faux tudor splitlevel or whatever is not learning, which to my knowledge is still what the fucking L in TLC stands for.

Mind of Mencia, because the man just isn't funny to me.

American Idol. Do we seriously need another halfbaked corporate pop act in this country? Every damn year even? That and the format, and the judges, and basically everything else makes the show unwatchable.

Documentaries on PBS or National Geographic that try to make me feel like an asshole just for having the good fortune not to be born into some horrendous third world nation and for generally living like an American.

Hell, just the National Geographic Channel, period. I don't know if the Euro version is in any way similar to the US one, but here it's endless reruns of disaster reconstructions that give *zero* new information and repeat the same animations over and over and over and over again. If we're lucky, we *might* get yet another Robert Ballard hagiography

Amen to that. He's a loudmouth asshole with nothing important to say. And everyone knows we need another racially charged show to piss people off just enough to make them laugh.

I only watched the first 12 episodes or something of Season 3, and I agree to an extent that the possibilities for plotlines are becoming somewhat limited, given the setting and characters: there's only so many times Marissa and Ryan can break up before it gets repetitive. It is the last season though IIRC.

All reality, without exception, sucks. It's retardo-vision for the chavvy masses. Same goes for a lot of soaps: 'Oh look, exactly the same thing is happening as happened about 3 months ago! Fortunately, we're too thick to notice!'

Anything that involves pseudo-celebrities in any way. Again, this is caused by the fucktard masses wanting to 'be like the stars'.

All of them that are not Family Guy or Simpsons. Also I don't hate 24, I just don't watch it very often. There is also the occasional documentary series or mini-series that I don't hate but they're not exactly shows, are they...

FFS, they are doing some sort of reality show now where they are going to find future spouses for a bunch of farmers. You know, maybe that's good for the farmers to get someone, but I am confident that showing the program inventors sitting in their sofas and smoking weed while trying to come up with this show would make for more entertaining television.

Oh and this late night money making show that they have. "Hey look at me standing here at 2 AM begging everyone to call in to guess this here eight letter word that can be absolutely anything. You're probably not going to get through and if you do you're definitely not going to guess the right word, but do call anyway. Only costs a fucking dollar!" And one time they fucking changed to game to be about guessing how many corks or something they had in a jar. Why don't they just fucking call it "Send us money for no particular reason"...

Good thing this new channel started which has watchable shows daily. And even better is that apparently they are never showing fucking football instead of them. If I wasn't so cheap I'd send them money to thank them for not sucking completely.

"Reality" TV. Cheap, unispired, boring, corny,... - television

There's no point mentioning the volumes of mindless crap put out for the proles eg virtually anything on ITV and the Beeb's daytime schedule since it's not meant to be good in any way. I will make an exception for Big Brother, my sisters both watched this every series but not this one. The show has gone from being mindless reality to rejoicing in cruelty and going against the advice of the show psychologists by putting in people who are mentally ill or just so maladjusted that the experience will ruin their lives. The wankers at Endemol responsible for this must be particularly devoid of corporate conscience.

I hate BBC News. It's so dumbed down that it's almost painful to watch. The national news is almost patronising whenever they try and explain things in the simplest possible terms. Any interviews are inevitably piss-poor and always shy away from confronting people with genuine difficult questions. Channel 4 news is much superior. On a sidenote Jeremy Paxman has become far too over-agressive on Newsnight and seems more intent on butting in to mock the interviewee than on getting an answer. The BBC's actual quality of journalism is very high just its presentation on TV sucks.

Also Judge John Deed (woo go maverick judge, yeh that's we want a judge that kicks arse and breaks the rules!), 8/10 Cats (just bad, unfunny, awfulness), CSI New York (it has no soul) and Songs of Praise (just because it offends me that a nice slot of tv around Sunday dinnertime is taken up with Christian circle-jerking). Blehk.

Touched by an Angel. I had a roommate that would watch that show literally religiously, and I hate it with a passion. I also loathe reality TV, but other than those two everything else I don't like I merely have a mild contempt for.

Let's see-any and all reality TV, soap operas (especially cheap german soap operas), unfunny comedy shows, most talk shows, court shows-mustn't forget court shows-you know I think I hate basically most of german TV.
EDIT: Oh, and I completely forgot music stations, because frankly, they aren't anymore. I can't remember the last time I managed to accidentally catch a video on VIVA, and I can't remember the last time I cought a video on MTV period.

Crapality television and MTV are my two biggest gripes. I can't stand that shit.

I really don't like American Idol, since 2/3 judges are dishonest whores and the other one, while honest, seems to be forced into playing the "asshole" stereotype-role.

NCIS, for raping JAG's corpse

That's an excellent observation; it's the Homer Simpson effect. I actually like The Simpsons, but that particular device gets really shopworn really fast when it's copied repeatedly.

That stereotype goes back as far as one of the first sitcome - the Honeymooners where the morbidly obese, poor, cretinous Ralph Kramden is married to the hot Alice Kramden and she's happy to be with him and he has no clue how lucky he is.

Most daytime television including talk shows. Fuck Oprah and Ellen! Urg...

So-called 'comedies' with black people trying to act like white people and making like that's funny. Cosby did it, and so did Family Matters... back in the '80s. It's been done, and MUCH better at that.

Most 'reality' television. The only shows I really like are Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and one or two others. The rest can go hang...

Tried watching ITV news recently? Jeebus.. It's The Sun televised, I swear.

I agree with you about C4 news though, I MUCH prefer it to the Beebs coverage.

I could be wrong, but I think they rebranded it as "The Lifestyle Channel" around here. Some days I can't tell the difference between TLC and the Home & Garden channel, all I know is they both suck ass.

Besides the standards listed by others here, I've never been a big fan of 24. I don't have much of a problem with the show itself, but the whole "z0mg itz 1 day!!!!!" kinda annoys me since no one on the show ever eats, sleeps, or uses the bathroom.

Plus, as my barber once put it, if I'm a terrorist, and at 1:30 in the morning I manage to successfully steal several nuclear warheads, I'd call that a day.

Charmed. Perhaps the only TV show that puts me into a genuine rage. I simply hate that fucking show so God damn much.

Other than that, most shows I don't like I simply just don't care for.

Reality shows (however, I do like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition), talk shows and the overwhelming majority of soap operas (a close relative of mine is watching Days of Our Lives and I don't know what to say really... It's so stupid that it's scary. A German scientist who implants mikrochips in peoples' brain to control them etc. How can anyone watch that with a straight face?).
