As long as its done carefully by responsible scientists/engineers, I'm all for it.

I'm all for it. I can't wait until the time when we have elite gen-engineered soldiers (ie Dark Angel and Halo). Parents can engineer their own children, eliminating retardation, improving their sex appeal, physical ability and mental ability. it will accelerate the rate of human evolution.

As long as it's used for noble purposes like improving human life, curing diseases, and eliminating stupidity, I'm all for it. But I'm sure it will recieve massive opposition regardless of the benefits.

Well, this might sound rather odd, but I do kinda hate men in general.

It's not really sexist in nature: not like how femi-nazi's hate men, but for my personal reasons.

Basically, I see males (particularly American ones) as more prone to violence, cruelty, and becoming hateful, sex-obsessed bastards that do nothing but spread their cruelty and hurt others.

I cannot see myself bringing in something like that into the world as my children.

But it's not at the personal level, to let you know. I don't hold anything against any of you.

As for the tail: well, that's just because it's cool.

If genetic engineering can grant me immortality, I'm taking it. As for other things, like enhancements and all, I think I'll just be content with what natural genetics gave me.

I get it, you don't like all the sex threads that have been going around lately. It's alright spanky, they will pass--most of them are already gone.

I'm for genetic engineering with regard to curing genetic-related diseases and conditions. Given the current stigma against cloning, I think using genetic engineering to create a "supermen" would be made illegal before it could happen.

BINGO! I like the tailored virus in Kim Stanely Robinson's Mars books that keeps people from aging. I probably wouldn't mind a few other enhancements as long as they are reliable and not to freaky.

I don't see why it's such a concern for everyone. I even get angry at politicians who are in favor of placing many restrictions on it. The fact is that the world as a whole needs more food. There are horribly impoverished people living in large tracts of the world that subsist on less than one handful of food each day. Genetically engineered foods present a reasonably easy way of alleviating their suffering, and should be pursued if only for that reason. Apart from that, I HATE the people who complain about genetically engineered corn. The fact of the matter is, people have been genetically engineering other species for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of years. The dog is a form of genetically engineered wolf (or jackal, depending on the breed). Corn, as it exists today, is a form of genetically engineered maize. The process used in genetically engineering these species is irrelevent, as both were genetically engineered. The fact that the average person cannot see the similarities should not be the problem of modern scientists who are trying to make advancements for the betterment of humanity.

That aint the problem, it's the distribution of the food that is the problem.

The amount of wasted food in the US is enough to feed all the starving people of Africa.

While I agree completely that allocative efficiency of food could be improved, if we gave the farmers in Africa something that took half the time to grow twice the food (there are already many such crops), they would have a much better chance of actually getting enough to survive.

I see no reason why genetic engineering shouldn't be allowed at all.
