For one thing, aside from the member that joined at the beginning you need to have at least 1500 posts and some sort of notable achievement. Or you have to be a mod. Mods are entitled to custom titles as a job perk.

You can get a rabid monkey title by joining the Brotherhood of the Monkey.

And for Hemlock/Cyril's benefit: You've got to ask Mike if you meet (or think you meet) the criteria!

Yeah, I've been working for my custom lately. Not gonna ask until I hit 1.5k. Also most commonly a custom title comes with letting the others in the board choose one.

No, I meant so of the senior members got title sooner. Custom titles were a little easier to come by then. Especially at times Mike was feeling magnaimous.

Do you not know of the Custom Title Initiation Ritual of Doom or CTOIRD? It is most dangerous and downright unhealthy. Ensure you submit the proper paperwork to the proper official(s) at the proper location. Hardcore Trekkies need not apply, for a derogatory title shall be picked for them.

Would it be possible for a notable member to get a custom title before 1500? I believe Kelly got one before 1000.

Because it's the highest the standard titles go. After 1500 you're a Jedi Council Member. It's basically to hold down the number of requests, to set a bench mark and ensure that one has to go through all the ranks first.

Yes, 1500 isn't a hard and fast rule especially for those that signed up in the first few months. She was a notable personality right from the start and so she was given two different titles. It's all a matter of accomplisment and visibilty.

And of course being a mini-mod, mod, or super-mod is a guarentee of a custom title.

Other then 1500 being the needed amount for jedi council member rank, which is the highest non-custom rank on this board, it's also probably just for experience's sake.

Well, you have to earn it first honsetly. It isn't something jsut given away. And for all you going "Oh, I want a custom title." You probably won't get one, they are reserved for those who are very unique and have a LOT of posts, also refered to as no life.

That isn't a guarentee of a title. But in her case it did help earn her the Kitsune title. But she got the title because she was and still is a hell of a lot of fun to talk to, noteably so.

I thought you had to ask David...ah well learn something new everyday...besides I believe most want to be monkey members for the peek at the Mary Poppins vs Trinity thread

I was planning to get to maybe 2000 before asking, at least 1600.

FYI: information on requesting custom titles has now been added to the board usage FAQ in the announcements forum. The next person who asks this question can now be repeatedly beaten about the head with the RTFM bat.
