Currently McDonalds. Sad. Excuse is, a friend of mine was going to go aply and asked if I wanted to go too. I said yes and got hired. Thought it wouldnt be all that back and extra shineys are always good. I was wrong, about the working there at least. The money is good at times.

I always come home sick from inhailing grease. I have worked there for a year and a half and get paid $7.25 an hour. Luckily, I am seeing a recruiter soon about joining the AirForce. YAY!

Nothing wrong with working at McDonalds -- it's a job. Congratulations on your decision to join the Air Force.

I'm a gentleman of leisure (aka unemployed). My college schedule makes it too hard to get any of the few job available in Southfield. So basically I'm shit out of luck when I'm in school and work my ass of in the summer to save some money for the other 8 months of the year.

I teach music (band, percussion, piano & voice), perform music (I generally have at least one long-running playing gig at any given time--right now it's West Side Story), and am trying to cram in a third job (probably something secretary-ish) for some extra dinero. And yes, somewhere in there I find time for some semblance of a social life. :D

Work at an internet cafe to get enough money to afford to pay rent AND eat. Bills are another matter entirely.

My excuse. I'm a student.

Temp, aka. Indentured Servant. It's a wierd feeling not only knowing that a company has a purchase order for you, but also actually seeing it while you're filing paperwork. Here I thought there was a constitutional amendment prohibiting slavery...

I'm a pharmacy technician at a hospital on the graveyard shift.

I enter physcian orders (yes they are very hard to read a lot of the time) into a computer and after they are verified by a pharmacist I get to do a bunch of other stuff. If it is an IV I either get to make it or relabel it. Sometimes there are oral meds that I have to make but most of the time we have prepackaged (by us or a commercial company) that I then use a different computer to load into our remote med stations. Then, at least 3 times a night I go on delivery runs to all the floors of the hosptial and deliver meds. Most go to the automated machines. The IVs go to either refrigerators or med safes.

Our med stations link to the main pharmacy for inventory reasons so when the stock of a certain med runs out I get a print out that tells me to refill it on the next run. This is another thing I spend a lot of the night doing.

One of the annoying things about my job is the number of phone calls I get at night. There are usually only 3 people in the pharmacy at night but we have many many more phones than that and the nurses like to use them. A lot of the calls are legit because they either need stat stuf, have med questions, or they are missing things that they need. Unfortunately we get a lot of calls that really have to do with nurses not looking for things in the right place.

I work at a bicycle shop fixing bikes and dealing with an endless stream of dumbass customers who think they know more than I do. Why? I get to buy anything in the store at cost price, and you wouldn't believe the markup that's on the goodies. I can even special order stuff from any distributor the store has an account with at store cost. I also get to meet a bunch of bicycle babes on the weekly store organized rides. It makes dealing with all the jackass customers worth it, hell I don't even have to be all that polite to dumbasses since I have enough seniority to tell the fuckers off without getting fired. :D

Hmmm, I might have to switch jobs. I meet a lot of nurses but the young good looking ones are usually already married. The others are usually fat (I'm talking REALLY fat) or guys.

The thing is, your hands will never be clean again as there's no cleaner strong enough to remove those grease stains from your hands without melting your skin. I also have to deal with asshole customers who can't speak fucking english, and countless idiots who are dumb as a bag of dicks. We've had people oil their brake pads and then wonder why their bikes won't stop. They fuck up their bikes and we then get to explain to them why it ain't covered under warranty while they're yelling at us and claiming that we're trying to rip them off. Fuckheads. :x

Edit: They live in fucking multi-million dollar houses and they're too fucking cheap to pay a $10 charge for parts & labour. Fuck them.

Plenty of nurses and doctors don't speak English very well where I work. We also have our share of stupid people. Most of the time it's hard for me to believe that a nursing degree is actually a college degree because so many of them can't even do basic high school math. Basically, there are really reall stupid and lazy and cheap people anywhere there are people so you might as well be where the hot looking ones are. :D

I'm lucky in that I very rarelly have to speak to patients or deal with payments. That major headache is more of a retail pharmacy thing. :)
Just like in your situation no one wants to pay for anything or you get morons that insist on getting all their prescriptions filled with brand names and then complain about the cost when their insurance won't pay for the brand names.

My absolute favorite though is when a parent won't spend the money for their kids antibiotic so they can buy beer and cigarettes. :x Is it any wonder why a significant percentage of the population seems to be getting stupider?

On the clean hands thing. I ususually don't have that kind of problem but ocassionally I do because iron dextran and methylene blue do not come off of anything until they are ready to come off. Nothing like going around with blue stuff on your hands.

Was (and probably still) a web development guy for my University's computer center.

Current job is a Freelance Editor at News12 Long Island, which I got through one of my professors (pretty lucky there). I make $14.49 an hour (and that's starting pay) but I only work when they call me in to cover someone's shift.

Technically, I'm a full-time student, but that's just a bunch of horseshit I do in my time off. I work 30+ hours a week at Hollywood Video as a Customer Services Representative (read: cashier). They give me $7.40 an hour.
My excuse is that I'm only a student, dammit. I figure that when you work, you'd better like the product you deal with, and I couldn't love my product more. The customers, I could do without. :P
