More replies per page?

Is there an option avaliable for more replies per page like at a VBB? I normally select 40 but currently I think it's a little too small at 15; it makes reading long threads like debates a bit tedious (due to slow connection).

No, there isn't. You're shit out of luck in this case. So far this isn't as well developed a board software as VBB is.

I'm also having trouble staying logged in, do you know how to fix this?

Yeah I used to have that problem but one day it just fixed itself.

As for the main topic, I'm fine with 15, but I believe raising it to 25 would make things less tedious. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I could always bump up the count. It's configurable, but it's across the board, not per-user. But I've heard people say the opposite, that they don't like really long pages.

I think less posts per page is easier for moderating since you don't have to look at so many per page.

I'm a moderator at Starport33 so I should know. I look through about 10+ threads each day

Upgrade the board to vB. :) Yes, it costs money ($160 USD) but it lets users choose things like page length for themselves, supports subforums, and has fewer bugs than phpBB.

If you wanted to go this route then perhaps some or all of the cash could be raised by soliciting donations from the membership.

Learn some PHP, and code it yourself :)
Shouldn't be too hard to do.

How do you know, Exonerate?

Because I can code PHP, and this wouldn't be too hard. Make a new table, change a few variables, wouldn't take more than 30min.

I've always been leery of modifying software, because it makes version ugprades really tricky (especially if those version upgrades mess with the database schema too).

Any chance of a poll of whether to increase the size by something smallish, maybe 5 or 10 per page? I doubt that would make moderating any harder. :)
