What's so funny, they seem nice enough, in fact they've assured me that I'll not only get my card back, but I'll be seeing great improvements in my airline miles.

ROFLOL!!! About on par with my autoexec modifying batchfile on one of my old websites (loaded a format with no prompt line in the autoexec, when the system was restarted the drive would get nuked) with the link heading: "Having problems with your Windows 95 or 98 system? Click here to fix it."

Yes, a few people fell for it.

Those police reports that say something like "cops found 13 kilos of cocaine in the park. If this cocaine is yours, contact the police" are even dumber, and I'm sure at least one person has fallen for it.

Yes, I remember that... IIRC, it was the Canadians who fell for that. I remember a woman going to the police because she thought somebody ripped her off and didn't sell her real crack. They did a test, and turned out that it was genuine, so they arrested her for possession of drugs

the best way to scam credit cards (probably useless now), just come up with random 16 digit numbers... used to work about 80% of the time on cellphone roming companines.
