What is with the night elves?

They sit out THREE major wars, orcs coming out of the Dark Portal, destroying one of the world's most powerful nations, then the Reconquering of Azeroth and destruction of the portal the worlds greatest evil, and then the return of the Orcs and counter invasion.

Then when a bunch of undead orc wannabes come up the night elves, who could have helped kick major Orc Ass decide to come out and fight in the open. Why did they do this?

Possibly the eventual realization
"Our ass is on the line too this time..."?

The original warcraft games occured in Azeroth and in Lorderon, the night elves are in Kalimdor. Having the Great Sea and a Giagantic Malestorm in between these continent sort of isolates the two land masses.

That and the Night Elves wern't developed as a race by Blizzard until the beginning of the WC3 development cycle.

Ever Warcraft war is a bigger affair then the last, encompassing more lands and species. In the original warcraft Lorderon wasn't even involved, and it had a land link to Azeroth. Kalimdor is a couple months away by sea.

They may not even have been aware of the other wars.

They didn't feel the merchandising deals were good enough for the first two games.

Considering the fact that the inhabitants of Kalimdor didn't even know that Orcs and humans existed until WC3, I think they can be forgiven.

Personally i alwaus felt that WC3 was one huge LOTR rip off, only with a slightly different story. Blizard really need to get working on Star Craft 2.
