Hello.

Greetings. (claps twice and punches into the air) Jaguar!

It is I, the ESB, returned from Tekong for the second time in a long while to scourge these boards once more. By the way, this is not a brainless no0b-ass "Hell0" thread. Look at my postcount. If you still think I'm a no0b, then fuck you and all of yours.

Now that we're through with the misleading title (to attract pokers) abrupt introduction (with accompanying crudities to clear out the idiots), on to the REAL topic.

First off - How does one improve one's pullups/cardiovascular endurance (for running)? Being a good and proper widdle soldier I have no wish to be shot dead because I can't haul myself onto a ceiling or get to cover before the enemy GPMGs find me.

Secondly - what supplements/exercises would you recommend for losing weight? I am obese (not very obese... just moderately so... and most of it is heavy bones dammit!) and I have no wish to stay that way.

Thirdly - How has everyone been doing? Vympel's caught up with my while I was away... I must remedy that situation...

CHeers, guys. Happy belated New Year.

(claps twice and punches into the air) Jaguar!

Oh, c'mon. You don't think we'd forget you so quickly. Sure it was close but...

If you can't do many pullups then using a lateral pull-down machine is a good way to work the same muscles. Most people can't do a lot of pulll-ups but with this kind of machine you can vary the weight so you can exercise longer. It really helped me increase the number of pullups I could do when I was in high school.

Some swimming strokes might help with this but I've never tried that.

Anyway, besides more running other things you can do to help your endurance for running include swimming, biking. Anything that works your legs will help. Running hills or stairs are good exercises.

I've never tried to lose weight with supplements. The exercise will help the most. Cardio exercise is good for losing weight. Lifting weights can help you get in better shape and help you lose weight. More muscle mass means more energy requirements which means with more muscle your boddy will burn more calories even when you aren't doing anything. More muscle may make you weigh more at some point but I doubt you'll mind.
:)

Remember to eat right, in reasonable portions and drink lots of water.

Welcome back ESB! You will note that the Hentai content of this board has somewhat suffered when you left.

So you want to improve you endurance, eh? Running will help but it can be nard on the joints especially the knees. I'd try swimming or cycling if you can. If your looking to improve your wall climbing abilities and shed a few pounds then why not look for an indoor climbing gym. You'll be able to haul you butt up walls and shed a few lbs too.

Have you ever read "Body for Life'. It might be able to turn you into a fit ubersoldier.

Anyway, I've doing fine. Hope you've had a good new year.

I shall try to add more hentai, though mine weekends are few and my time available to loll before the monitor even less. But never you mind. I take the motto of FIDO upon mine breast, and even if I am concussed and drunk out of my mind some hentai shall find its way to thine doorstep every weekend.

And no, I did not have a happy new year. Stupid couples.

You back for good then?
Or are you going to be spending more time in the gym (do circuits with you want to lose weight) than sitting in front of a computer burning no fat other than those in your fingers?

Nope. Only on the weekends. And even those are pretty iffy (Damn the accursed book-out requirements)

Well, I will try to get some running done after last parade every night and do a few few reps on the chin-up machine afetr every meal.

well if you wanna get better at running run daily starting off at a mile to 3 miles (whatever you feel comfortable at) and move up to 5-6 miles. Run for 5-7 days a week.

Careful, though, because running fucks up your knees. Try alternating it with another exercise - if you're in a gym, use the ellipticla stepper.

I alwaus prefered swimming for losing weight. Swimming uses every major muscle group and while you're going that yoiu can ogle half naked ppl.

But not as your main form of exercise, especially if you're a woman with a family history of osteoporosis, because it does nothing to strengthen the bones - regular weight bearing is needed to avoid skeletal problems later in life

(Oh gods listen to me... anyone else want me to rubbish their exercise routine?)

Welcome back, ESB.
First off - How does one improve one's pullups/cardiovascular endurance (for running)? Being a good and proper widdle soldier I have no wish to be shot dead because I can't haul myself onto a ceiling or get to cover before the enemy GPMGs find me.
I would say for cardio any activity that raises heart rate and O2 consumption. One good thing to raise leg strength/endurance is to practice running in the shallow end of a pool (waist deep). The resistance adds muscle, but don't overdo it or you'll get nasty cramps (experience speaking here).
Secondly - what supplements/exercises would you recommend for losing weight? I am obese (not very obese... just moderately so... and most of it is heavy bones dammit!) and I have no wish to stay that way.
No supplements. Most of them are bad stuff. Just work out, and don't worry too much about weight, worry about body fat percentage. Weight is misleading (muscle mass still has weight).
Thirdly - How has everyone been doing? Vympel's caught up with my while I was away... I must remedy that situation...
Meh. Been gone most of a month, spent some time in Ft. Myers to visit the Edison-Ford Museum, and am back on campus, pissed because I don't have a 4.0 any more (one stinkin' B, now I'm at a 3.937). I'll be back on later, but I'm heading out to dinner with some friends.

Have you seen the 13th Angel in NGE? You perish like he did.

:D

EDIT:

XaLEv: Domo.

BTW there's a Japanese guy in my bunk. He looks like a little kid, which makes for no end of entertainment. Still, he is possessed of godly skill with the pencil... he can finish a line drawing in pen without guidelines in around 10 miuntes.

Yeah, running does fuck up your knees and your shin. Why it's good to sometimes take a few days off and not to run on hard surfaces everyday. You could take the weekends off from running.

I was thinking about the milage and thought changing it from the 5-6 to 3-6 depending on how good you feel is better going the 3 miles the day you start running again after taking a couple day (like the weekend) rest, next day run 3 miles if you feel like shit and if not move up to 5-6.

If you are going to take days off every time you feel pain you'll never be running so I suggest at tops a 4 day weekend from running a month tops. If one of your leg is hurting but the other one is not then it could mean that you got an injury in which case you could take a extra day off and if the pain isn't fading you should have it checked with a doctor.
