Getting a tan

Despite being Greek, I don't have olive skin. My mother keeps on nagging me in that annoying paternal way to get a tan by going outisde and letting the sun cook me for a few hours, because it's 'healthy'.

Are tan's healthy?

I think it varies for different people, for some (like my dad), he has what could be described as an Uber Tan on his back, whereas I don't tan well at all.

I think you should be careful though, the sun is bad here in Australia

Well that's not a very healthy attitude. You gotta get out man and sniff the flowers etc.

Unless you're a vampire a little sunlight isn't going to kill you.

While it's true that too much sunlight will cause sunburn and may lead to skin cancer, it won't hurt to get out a bit and pick up a slight tan. however you don't want to soak in the sun for hours either since that's how sunburn happens. You'll get tanned nicely enough if you go out for an hour at a time or so and just bike, rollerblade, walk, or do other outdoors stuff.

Oh, I get out. I have to walk to my classes, after all.

And I can't tan. I burn.

You should get some sunlight, it is good for you. Too much is bad because you run a high risk of getting skin cancer later in your lift.

Tell me my Hellenic brother, why the big aversion to the Sun? I mean we both live in Aus, but besides the skin cancer risk (Slip, Slop, Slap at all times!) why not go out and let the Sun see you for a while?

Me too. I fucking hate it, everyone bothers me about how pale I am... do I bother them about how stupid they are?

Re malaka! You live in Australia! The rule is half an hour on each side max! Either that or just do activities outside with sunscreen on, you don't get burned but you do get a nice gradual tan

Hey I did that re! I was reading a book and half way I changed sides!

I think I'm the only person to read Liddell Hart's History of the Second World War while getting a tan. Sheesh I'm a militaria geek.

Its hard not to pick up a farmer's tan when you live in California. But overall tanning is not good for you.

I myself don't tan, I get plenty red taking hot showers. However, I'd like to bring up tanning on women, and my opinion on it. Some women don't look good pale, but some others do. I guess it depends on the hair oclor Otherwise, I'd prefer a tan, but not one that turns the face red.
