Respectfully, I had wanted this thread to be a debate on if the EU is selling out its values to achieve a quick unification of Europe, not a flame-fest against the Slovakian government, or anyone else for that matter. I apologize if I worded my initial post in such a way, as I confess I may have, to encourage such.

I do agree that this is a sign that the EU is trying more of a quick attempt to unify Europe, regardless of a nation's human rights record. If there are any benefits from joining the EU, and they refuse to admit them until they stop this practice, I believe it will motivate the government to end it.
