This is intended to be a rant that I constantly edit and add on...

For now, I will start with Metal Gear Solid 2.

It was utter absolute shit compared to the original MGS, especially
in the tanker mission. "Gee snake, lets not tell the US Marines below
deck that their topside crew has been slaughtered by unknown assailants!"

And I found Ocelots hostage taking of the US Marine Commandant
to be cack. Any real marine would just have opened fire....

And just WHY is the corps so interested in Metal Gear? I can understand
DARPA's interest in MG in MGS, as they would want to EVALUATE the
technology to see if it's militarily any use...

So why does the Corps want to use something that can be taken out by
a lone man with a stinger?

And the ending of MGS2 was so much like NGE. It totally turned me off
to all future Metal Gear Games...

So based on this one incident it is safe to assume that anime in general is crap. I see

While I may have no great love for anime...disliking because of MGS series(both of which disgusted me storywise...both for glaring stupidity in both science and moronitude in general tactics...)

I would give some anime a try...I mean I wouldn't go for the cutesy stuff but since you love Punisher...try something like Lone Wolf and Cub or Jin-Roh.

I liked the original Metal Gears better than the solids.

And BTW, some of the stuff I find unbelieveable in MGS2 is Vamp's invulnerability (I mean come on, he takes a .45 bullet to the forehead and isn't even stunned for 2 minutes. Then he runs across water, what is he, a fucking Lizzard?! )

Also, the legs on Metal Gear RAY. Take on look at those things, RAY wouldn't be able to stand up on its own. Legs that thin would cut into the ground.

Then there's Fortune's anti-bullet thingie that deflects all shows and nullifies grenades.

Out of all of Dead Cell, I think Fatman is the only one with realistic military skills.

That's a nice reason, Shep, considering that Metal Gear Solid 2 isn't even an anime.

And it still shows that you have no fucking clue what Neon Genesis Evangelion is even about, considering that you see it as being so similar to Metal Gear Solid 2.

MGS 2 was very similar to NGE in that they both started out as good
games/shows and then ended up in the shitbin when their writers began their
screeds. For MGS2 it was how computers really control the world. For
NGE it was the entire EoE mess.

Well... What animes have you seen, Shep? You mentioned some that have militaries behave rather abysmally. I'm not asking you to name 'em all of course, but a few would help us figure out if you've seen only the crappy of the anime out there rather than the good.

Professor Pain is the worst hentai garbage I've ever seen. Even La Blue Girl is better than that piece of shit.

The scene with the pins was reason enough for me to delete it off my hard drive.

Another friend of ours freaked right the fuck out when he saw it. Jumped up and pressed the eject.
I have seen "Ninja Scroll", however. Very cool. The ship at the end was way too over the top in terms of historical accuracy, kind of a mixture of Chinese treasure junk with Japanese rigging, but that's all the criticism I can muster for it. And I caught about 45 minutes of "Metropolis" the other day. Perty perty visuals in that one!

The disturbing part of this is that not only did someone come up with the idea for the anime but someone also said - "Hey, here's a shitload of money to make your idea come to life! Rape a few for me eh?"
