In memory of Katie, and the others of Flight 5481

For those of you who don't know, US Airways Express Flight 5481 crashed this morning in Charlotte, North Carolina. All 19 passangers and two crewmen were killed. The pilot, Katie Leslie, is a former student of my university. She graduated in 1999, and continued with the school into 2000 as a flight instructor. I knew her slightly during that time, she was very outgoing and well liked by everyone. She left in 2000 for U.S. Airways Express, and just lately was upgraded to pilot in command. Her younger brother, a former classmate of mine, is still a student here. He and the rest of the family will probably leave either tonight or tommorrow morning from their home in Arlington, Tx to Charlotte. This is the third pilot we've lost in the last 16 months. One of which was a pilot on one of the planes that crashed into the WTC.

Katie had a promising life and career ahead of her, I wish it wouldn't have been ripped away all too suddenly.

My condolences. I hear that wind shear was a big contributor. No pilot could handle that much wind in a small plane. It is very unfortunate that it had to happen.
