Because you caused me to break down and buy this with my ill-gotten gains:
HA, just kidding, but his endless talk about Soviet crap drove me to
buy this just to see if half the crap he talks about is true....
BUT.....I managed to clean my mind of such Slavic Filth by also buying
the following:
Actually, I just like getting together on this board to talk smack with
Pablo about WW2 hardware, rather than long existential debates
about God.
EDIT: I have yet to read this....I bought it like 5 months ago, and it's
a basic compilation of the after action reports many German Generals
and officers wrote after WW2 for the U.S. Army Historical Dept...

I am reading that Infantry Aces book as well. Not quite halfway yet.
Got to give it to the Bundeswehr. Best Army of WW2 even if they lost.

Most of it I've made up. Like that IS-2 tank I was talking about--it never existed.

I have it, I've read it. The summary of Red Army tactics is fairly biased, and some of it is Teutonic superstition about the "Slavic animal." I found it to be more of a summary of the Red Army's performance in the early and middle war, when they were so very clumsy. Raus glosses over the improvement in their tactics during the last stages of the war. The discussions on terrain and weather are fairly interesting, especially the summary of the Karelian front.
