You know I am really starting to think that we should have a sticky about Kazaa and all it's creations but anyway my question; what is the participation level?

When I first started using Kazaa Lite I had a medium participation level, currently it shows a participation of only Low(14), what's that all about? I haven't removed any of my shared files so what's up?

Does the participation level restrict my download time? Meaning with a higher participation level, do I get faster downloads, or more matches with my searches? I should also point out that I have set as default unlimited uploads/downlaods speeds, and I use a cable connection. Questions, comments?

Your participation level goes up when you upload and down when you download. A higher participation level will give you priority in queues. That's it.

Higher Participation Level = Higher priority on queues, better/more search results

As for improving your level, you just need people to download from you. The number of files makes no difference if they're all obscure stuff no one wants.

Ahhh, I see so it's all a matter of upload/download ratio? And the only bonus being extra results/searches and priority in the que? Well I can live with that, although it's not too suprising that I have a lower participation level, since I don't have any of that teeny-bopy crap on my computer. Thanks guys!

I think the entire "participation level" thing is seriously gay... It's annoying as hell, and the only people who get the good ratings are those people running servers or just leave a box running all the time. That and I only download.

I have a participation level of 2

I share around 160 mp3s and people download from me occasionally but the level never goes up. Thank goodness I can still download most of what I look for.


Also I tried out the Kazaa cheater program, which causes you to upload like crazy to a fake user. It's supposed to raise your participation level in that way, sometimes up to like 1000. Doesn't work for me though

Twice I have come up to level 1000 on Kazaa, you better have what the people are looking for. I only allow 5 people at the time upload from me.

Shinova where can one find these participation level cheats?

I don't have any Parcipation cheats but I do have a constant 1000 at all times

Stealing my GF account for a sec, the cheaters don't work with version 2.02 or whatever the latest version of Kazaa Lite is, only with 2.0. A search of "KLcheater" will find you what you need.

Actually I have found a cheat (just now) that is availalbe from here that did work for my Kazaa lite version 2.0.2, it raised it from 19 to 125 in the first go, so I think that I will be okay (for now). But thanks guys!

Works for me. My participation level is up from 9 to 1000.
Its not my fault it was so low! I shared everything I had

My level is perpetually around 30. About the only shared thing on my drive that people seem to want is the Guilty Gear XX soundtrack, for some reason. I'm trying KLCheater right now, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything (for Kazaa Lite 2.0).

Just get Kazaa Lite 2.0.3 (K++ Edition). The cheater, along with certain other useful functions (eg. Not limiting how many times you can "Search more"), is inbuilt.

Funny... I think I've discovered a bug. I was running KazaaLite, then executed Apache to test out a modification I made on a PHP script. There was a 404 error when I tried to access 127.0.0.1. When I tried to access the main directory for my comp, it showed the folder I was sharing, along with the files in it. I exited KazaaLite, and everything went as it was supposed to.

I was unable to duplicate this bug...

Forgive an ignorant question but I've been using regular Kazaa for like a year now. What's the difference betwee Kazaa and Kazaa lite??

No spyware is the main thing, though in the latest K++ editions there's the ability to search for higher bitrate files, no limit on searching, the cheated participation rating, hashing, etc, etc.

As for Gnutella.....frankly, if I was going to get on that archaic P2P network at all I'd be looking at Shareaza, if only for its ability to use both the Gnutella and G2 networks.

The thing is that Gnutella is not centralized whatsoever. If Kazaa goes down (fat chance) then Gnutella is the last bastion of P2P- since Kazaa is still centralized somewhat- hence the ability to shut out Morpheus. Besides if you use linux it's the only decent choice, unless you want to mess around with winmx on wine, or use the more obscure programs.

You also happen to not use 56k. As for us poor users, we have to get the cheat.

Btw, it does not work on the latest version of Klite. I still have the previous one, and the cheat works fine.
