Anyone know of any cool, free software that will allow someone to edit mpg, avi and other such files (DivX). All that I am really looking for is something that will allow some one to 'join' two clips together, or cut a bigger clip into smaller (more easily downloadable) sizes.

Anyone point me in the right direction with this?

If not free, then something cheapi$h will suffice. Thanks guys!

No I haven't tried to look at it yet, but I thought maybe Lord Poe would know since I believe that he made that whole ST 'accuracy' gag reel. :D

Can you also convert one file to another? Like AVI -> MPEG?

VirtualDub is the best. It's also very lightweight, gives you the option to recompress audio and/or video streams or just copy them directly, etc. Can use any codec.

I think you can find it in SourceForge
