If you were a sniper...

Post by Dodge »

Which rifle would you use? And why?

(Which of these parameters would be most important to you?

a. Barrel length (accuracy, muzzle velocity)
b. Weight (recoil reduction, less "shivering")
c. Bipod (if used in prone position
d. Colour of weapon (matt black for reduced visibility)
e. Sighting (night scope facility? High vs Low magnification)
f. Magazine capacity
g. Calibre (impact energy)
h. Cyclic rate (would it be important, or would bolt-action do?)

What other parameters could influence your choice?

)

Personally, I like this one:

Its so beatful...

However its horrible for a Sniper Role considered the shear amount of noise it makes

My choice would depend upon the operating environment.

A Barrett .50 would be insane to use in your average urban environment.
Too much noise, muzzle blast, and way too much penetration.

In a rural setting, a .50 makes more sense.

Urban use:
An HK PSG1 would be the maximum that I would go with.

Rural Use:
Any of the .50 rifles mentioned above or the HK. Depends upon range.

If I want to kill a vehicle: 12.7x108mm ammunition 0WNZ j00!

If I want to kill a person:

It's about as load as an unsilenced .22- which is better than most of course.

Remington model 700 Police for urban environments. It has more than enough range for any urban shooting and a good accuracy of under 1 MOA. Parts & ammo are also readily available anywhere.

Barrett M99 or M82 for long range shooting in open terrain. M99 if accuracy is more important than rate of fire and the M82 if the reverse is true.

.338 Super Magnum.

Another good choice for the unpleasant act of killing people, rather than the Barrett Light 50, which kills the trucks they drive as well...

I'd choose whichever launches hypersonic missiles at a high rate of fire with remote targetting. :p

For assassinations WA-2000, compact, concealable and a very very nice gun.

Or maybe a RAI-300, a sniper rifle designed to be easily broken down into a briefcase, hmmm....

For field work I'd go with a Dragunov or a PSG-1.

THIS is what a proper 7.62mm sniper rifle looks like:

If you want .50 cal go for the bolt action Barrett derivative.

You want anything really long range buy a 155mm Howitzer. :P

All sniper rifles make noise. :D

That horrible, sissified piece of tarted up metal's problem, is that CS makes people think it's the real Sniper rifle from Accuracy International.
