First part of a Alttimeline for my Roman storyverse.

Post by Mopeyennuui »

(Just the reign of the first emperess.)

7 AD - Publicus Quinctilius Varius is killed after being selected by Augstus; but before official appointment. This sets back the Romification of Germania until the Year of Pandora.

14 AD - "The year of Pandora" - In the year 0, Pandora is cornered by her evil brother, 'The Unnamed Legate' and 3 Praetorian Guard. When the brother attempted to have her arresterd the legate stops him, quoting law. After telling the Legate about her story; the betrayal by her evil brother to get the family fortune and her escape to Alexandria; the Legate slays the brother and reports the entire incident to Tiberus, who is pleased another corruption is 'dealt with'.

She is called to Rome to be rewarded for exposing that abuse of power by the late brother. When she arrives the Emperor assigns her to the dead-end post of Governess of Germania. (Although their is come ideas that this was a nativly or furture scripted event and there was no way for the future to variate.)

August, 14, 14 - Almost at their winter quarters, the legions assigned to her; the 11th, the 12th and the 13th; were attacked by a band of German warriors led by a ‘Attila’, injuring the governess herself. Later that night in her stateroom at winter quarters, Marius gave Pandora his blood to save her. She consumed 3 auxlaries that night in the accelerated healing process.

August 15 - Pandora was taken to see Isis (Akasha) in the temple of Alexandria. After being beckoned by Isis, she drank the Goddess’ blood. She took one of the golden gowns of Isis and traveled that night back to Germania.

August 16 - It was the third night that she finally revealed herself to the raiders (who she had spotted comfortable in camp). Making her way to their campsite and in front of the festivities, she subdued the giant Attila and killed or drank him after breaking the handle of the weapon ‘Thor’s Hammer’, just ripping it out of his hand. Historians are not prefectly sure, although the theory is more respected.

The raiders ran a short distance, the tribal cheifs standing to confront the vampress. 2 stood to fight and both were taken down. The leader who survived later became most subveriant to Pandora, key to the roman conquest of Germany. A leader who Pandora described as 'young, slight of frame and beautuful and intelligent' became her eyes and ears in the daytime: AKA her Supreme Legate. The rest of the tribal leaders are unaccounted for.

New year’s, 14-15. - The five assassins - Five assassins are sent from a publician in Rome to kill the governess. The first attacks at the change to the new year is defeated. The other four then seeing their comrade go down with with little effort, lay down their weapons and become spies for Pandora.

It is these four that are considered the first members of the Imperial Ninja, even though they predate the title ‘Imperial Ninja’ by 1500 years. The names and associations are as follows, although other disiplines have been created since then:

Germinicus - Covert Networking/Spy - Silence
Tiberus - Thief (Now includes the TechNinja) - Swift
Agrippa - Assassin - Sword
Quinctilius - 'Poisoner'/Covert assassination - Slay

February 2, 16 - After hearing about the Emperor's death, Pandora travels to Rome, but not before agreeing with her court about taking the 11th and 12th legions.

When she reaches Italy the Roman people gave her full support and forced Drusis, who was the chosen successor, to abdicate. She takes the throne and expanded the senates power so the popular choice would always be able to force the emperor to abdicate by a senatorial vote of 4/5ths. (Except in the matter of her ascention.)

17 - A expedition was sent out to the city of Petra to secure the old city as the capitol of a new Eastern province around Petra and Damascus.

20 - Contact with the Bedouins produces 3 more provinces over the next 20 years comprising most of the Arabian peninsula.

28 - A Legion is sent out to the city of Babylon to prepare Mesopotamia to become another province.

May 21, 30 - The 'death' of Pandora - When Pandora abdicated and faked her death (later thought to be when she had a further transformation), it was said 'Rome wept and the tears filled the Tiber'. There is some truth to that, the Tiber orflowing one week after her death.

A historians account of the games that were played as a funeral for Pandora. "In the Amphitheater the games, using the animals discovered in her reign - and German animals especially, were sent in a endless supply that lasted for what seemed a year. Over 150 gladiators died in those games, despite the reforms in the fighting of the games. Travelers from Chine and even ‘Nippon’ had time to hear of the games and to still come and see them, if they were lucky, as s few did."

Because of this, some Gladiators who more revered by foreigners, fought well, and were diplomatic, were given ther wooden sword’s and told to leave, and teach the forign civilization how to fight (in the games) as well as to spread Roman good will.

Finally, Rome made the day of her 'death' a national day of celebration, because nobody knew the date of her birth. It is still noted, but as a day of remembrance.

Ok.. so I kinda had to do on the spot revisions to equal history. How the furst oart sound? (Except a women gaining the throne. That is mostly she scared too many politicialns due to inside knowledge.)

She'd be a feared-hated politician more than anything else. Romans didn't suffer women of power, and unmarried women were in a social gray-area, even more so if they didn't have children.

Tempted to change to Akasha... but one of the twins would attack.

Ahh.. the problem is she is A) More powerful than any Prateorian. And B) What brought Germaina into the empire fully. And C) Had a short but useful reign in expanding the empire.

Plus she was no Nero.

Should have added her wedding then. (And perhaps taking of a child.)

A. Praetorians mean nothing. Are you sure you don't mean Consul or senator?
B. Nobody wanted Germania.
C. So?

Women simply didn't have power in Rome. They couldn't be senators or hold office, and were at best Equestrians who couldn't vote. An Empress would have to be so very extraordinary in her reign and the circumstances of her ascension that it would have to be astounding, and I don't see that here.

P.S. On reading your timeline, you have a german named Attila showing up in 14AD. What's up with that? Any special reason he's showing up 400 years earlier with germanic tribes?

Also, how'd she get from Germania to Alexandria overnight? The whole August 14-16 thing makes really no sense.

This reeks of "bad fic" from Vampires to Roman Ninjas.
