I need a name

I need a name for a unit of high tech police officers. Or what they are called today, for that matter

You mean, like, a squad?

I'm sorry, but the number you have dialed is imaginary. Please rotate the phone by 90 degrees and try again.

Hmm, it's hard to explain it. It is a grouping of what amounts to a bunch of police officers. What would you call them. It's quite a large amount as well, involving light armoured vehicles and a series of helicopter gunships.

What would you call them?

That'd more apply to the more military arm of it, namely a group of police officers turned elite drop troop unit.

Something less flashy would be better. But thanks anyway.

I just give my groups something that sounds kinda cool, but I write it in capital letters, and then I make up an acronym to go around it. And then everyone calls them by the acronym most of the time.

For example: FISAH was the major shipping company in this movie I was writing in year 12. I just made up the acronym and then I called it Federation of Interstellar Shipping And Hardware (or something like that), but all of the characters in the movie just called it FISAH, which in iteslf meant nothing but sounded kinda ok.

You could have something like Armed Response Unit (ARU), FireArms Response Team (if you don't mind the acronym FART), or Special Group 6 (SG6). CRU (Counter Revolutionry Unit) sounds a bit too military, but still a possibility.
For example, suppose I wrote a book that within 30 years of the moon landing millions of people could be duped by bad science and endless hectoring into believing that it didn't happen... nah, can't do that, too unbelievable for a fantasy novel, right?--Terry Pratchett, The new Discworld Companion

Ta guys, thanks. Armed Response Unit works for me, representing the kind of force my police might send after a hyper destructive robot.

I always prefered Shirow (or at least his translator's) method. Need something just that little bit better than a SWAT team? Throw on an E to make ESWAT: Extra Special Weapons And Tactics.
