Ok this is my first attempt at writing a fanfic, comments/feedback is welcome especially if constructive.
This is going to be a crossover fanfic Star Wars/Star Trek style. Takes place during the GCW, a year or so before Endor. Location Wildspace-Milky Way. The Rebellion and the Empire are not going to come into this story, everything in the movies and EU remains unchanged.

Chapter One: Routine Skirmish
Command center aboard the Polypheme-class space station, Celentre orbit.
"Commander!" called out a young man in a blue gray uniform, seated in front of a comm station.
"Yes, Ensign?" replied a tall, spare man, with the pips that marked him as a Commander in the Celentren Imperial Defense Fleet.
"Sir, patrol group Alpha-10 reports suspicious activity around the planet Orinthe!"
"Nature of this suspicious activity?"
"They report unregistered ships with low grade ECM, hiding behind Orinthe-6, sir"
"They are moving to investigate of course" mused the Commander, "Pirates most likely, TacOps where are the Carrack cruisers?"
The young woman with Lieutenant(jg) pips scanned her display.
"Swift is 100,000,000km from Alpha-10s position, the Chaser is on the other side of the sun."
"Thank you Tac, Comm redirect Swift to a supporting position."
"Aye sir!" replied Comm.
Out in space the Carrack cruiser Swift reoriented herself towards Orinthe-6 and the PB-90s that were investigating the unknown ships. Massive drives flared as all her discretionary power was diverted to thrust. On the bridge Captain Brahme began assigning tasks to his crew.
"Guns, weapons preheat, Defense, prepare to bring the deflectors online, angled for maximum protection, Comm, tell PG Alpha-10 that we are on our way, Sensors, I need to know whats out there!"
A chorus of "Ayes" rang across the bridge as the crew carried out their orders.
In the cockpit of PG Alpha-10-1 Lieutenant(sr) Jagers acknowledged Brahme's message and ordered his consorts into an approach vector on the bogeys. His copilot, spoke up,
"Jag, there's a new contact on the scope, I'm reading one Corvette, Corellian."
"Dang, that makes an upgraded, HT-2200 and a Corvette! The Swift had better hurry Spik or we are going to have some trouble!"
The Corvette that was lifting off the asteroid known as Orinthe-6 was painted with claws and fireballs. In addition to its cosmetic upgrade it also sported heavier armor and a pair of quad laser turrets on both sides of the bridge module.
"Ok Skip, I'm going to hail that Corvette. Unindetified Corvette, you are trespassing in Celentren space, cut your sublights and prepare to be boarded!"
A red bolt streaked out from the Corvettes upper turbolaser grazing Alpha-10-1's shields.
"Oops looks like they are not very friendly, eh boss." Quipped Spik.
"Well then we just have to make them friendly!" replied Jagers as he switched comm channels. "Swift this is Alpha-10-1, unknowns have opened fire, we will hold them here until you show up."
"Acknowledged Alpha-10-1, we're on our way!"
"Spik designate the Corvette Bandit-1, and the HT-2200 Bandit-2."
"Right boss!"
"Alpha-10 group this is Alpha-10 lead, 4 you harry Bandit-2, 2 and 3 you are with me we need to slow that Corvette down!" Double clicks and "on it" echoed across the comm.
The PB-90s raced towards their targets, their lasers began lancing out towards the Bandits, striking shields to weaken them so that damage could be inflicted on the armored carapace of their target. Return fire lanced out from the Bandits and struck the patrol craft, and a dance of death whipped through space.
Captain Brahme stood in front of the bridge view port, the engagement was still to far away to see anything, he turned.
"Helm can we coax any more speed out of the sublights?"
"Sorry sir, we are pushing her just as fast as she'll go." Helm replied apologetically.
"Very well, carry on Helm, Guns, I want the ion cannonsto be ready to fire on that HT-2200 as soon as we're close enough."
"Aye, sir! What about the turbolasers?" queried Guns
"Train them on that Corvette."
Guns acknowledged and turned back to his console sending the orders to his gunners. As the Swift raced towards the battle, one of the Alpha-10s took a direct hit from Bandit-1s turbolaser.
"Damn!! There goes 10-3, where is the Swift!!!" roared Jags.
"Lead this is 10-4 they transport is almost ready to jump!"
"Can you lock a homing beacon on him?" Spik replied.
"Affirmative Lead!"
"Do it!" order Jagers.
Back on board the onrushing Carrack cruiser the battle could finally be seen with unaided eyes. The green bolts of the PB-90's laser cannons mingled with the red of the Pirates, interspersed with blue trails of concussion missles. The bridge hummed with quite anticipation, orders given and recieved in quick tense voices, status reports called out. The entire crew was eager to get into battle, long months of patrols to guard the capital system of the Celentren Empire, were finally going to pay off. Then just as they reached effective weapons range they target identified as Bandit-2 jumped into hyperspace.
"Guns target all weapons on that corvette, blow him out of space!" growled Captain Brahme.
"Aye, sir! All guns target the Corvette, fire as bear!" sang out Guns, a grizzled veteran of the Clone Wars.
Gouts of green and blue fire erupted from the cruiser, leaping through space they struck the Pirate vessel amidships. Shields collapsed, armor started to flake away, peeled of by the tremendous energies spearing into it. Stricken the pirate began to lose speed as the PBs redoubled there fire, joined by 10-4. The hull breached in several places, the engines flickered and died. With a brilliant flash of light the corvette's reactor blew. Shock waves buffeted the CIDF ships, it sent 10-3 tumbling out past her sister ships and towards deep space. Swift turned and gave chase to the errant craft.
"Helm bring us up behind Alpha-10-3, Tractors, I want a beam on that ship! Medical prepare to receive injured crewers."
His orders given Brahme looked out the window to where the other pirate had jumped out. After a few moments of contemplation he turned and opened a link to Alpha-10-1.
"Lieutenant do you have any vector data on where that HT-2200 went?"
"I can do better then that sir!" came Jagers cheerful reply.
"Really? How much better? asked the Captain suspicion coloring his voice.
"How about the data from the homing beacon Alpha-10-4 tagged him with?" Jagers returned.
"You got a homing beacon on him!!" exclaimed Captain Brahme.
"Actually 10-4 did, but yes there is a homing beacon on him, sending you the data now."
The homing beacon's course began to scroll across the starchart in the middle of the bridge. It was heading corewards, not a real big surprise since there was nothing out the other way. Captain Brahme was worried though if the beacon got to far away they might lose it, or the pirates might discover it and destroy it. He had already requested a tug be sent out for Alpha-10-3, and the patrol boats crew was aboard in his medbay. He could wait for the tug to show up and transfer the wounded as well as the PB, or he could let the PB drift and jump out after the pirates, with the wounded still on his ship. Jumping would also leave his half of the system without a capital warship, not to mention he might jump into a pirates nest. Seconds later his dilemma was solved for him.
"Captain incoming transmission, its from the Emperor!" Comm's surprised call rang out.
"Put it route it through the hologram pod, Ensign!" replied the Captain as he moved towards the pod.
The hologram pod flickered to life and the young Emperor stood on the bridge. This was a young man that inspired confidence in his men, one who lead by example rather then by fear. Clad in body armor, blood red and black as space, he looked every inch the warrior he was. When he spoke his voice was deep and friendly sounding.
"Captain Brahme, you will take your ship after that pirate, yours is a scouting mission find out were the pirates go and the forces they have. I will follow you in the Warhammer and when you report back I will join you and we will destroy the pirates so they do not attack us again."
"What about Alpha-10-3, my lord?"
"You will keep their crew with you until we reach you, let the ship drift. The rest of the Alphas-10s are to return to Polypheme."
"Yes my lord, it will be done!" the captain bowed.
As the hologram flickered out Captain Brahme began to issue orders. The tractors released Alpha-10-3, Helm plotted a course that would allow them to get as close to the homing beacon as possible. Patrol Group Alpha-10 turned towards home and the Rendallia Star Drive Dreadnaught Warhammer released the moorings that held it to Polypheme. And in a system many light years away a lone HT-2200 dropped out of hyperspace in front of a Venator-class Star Destroyer.

Here is chapter 2 hope you like it!
Chapter Two: Pirates Lair
A small speck of light to the unaided eye, whipped across the surface of the Venator ducked down past its stern, twisted under an Acclamator 's prow, spiraled past a pair of Munificent warships and dove towards an old Trad Federation battleship core. Minutes later the Swift flashed back into realspace off the port bow of the Venator. Swift twisted and dove to avoid a turbolaser salvo, that never came. The Vennie just sat there, not a twitch, no sensor scans, no hails, nothing. Swift came around, slid over the top of the Venator, noting the gaping hole just forward of the starboard notch, the lack of power running lights and life forms. As Swift began a sweep through this graveyard, her powerful scanners reaching out to find the pirate vessel, she sent off a burst transmission to the Warhammer.
"Comm, send a report to the Emperor detailing our position and situation."
"Aye, Captain!"
"Helm, plot a preliminary search pattern, Ops, launch the scouts and tell them to be extra careful those pirates must have a base out here."
"Aye, Sir, scouts launched!"
"Very good, lets find these pirates and put an end to their raids on our people!"
Hyperspace swirled outside the Warhammer's viewports, the occasional smudge caused by the mass shadow of a planetary system showing up from time to time. Then they were to the "Shroud", the Shroud was a series of black hole clusters that restricted hyperspace travel to and from the Celentren Empire. Ships were forced down a few well known routes. Routes that contained more then just dangerous black holes, pirates lurked there, preying on the vulnerable freighters that passed through. Battles raged between pirates and Navy patrols, freighters were crippled and were often lost to the black holes. To keep the freighters safe more Navy patrols were sent out and a fleet of tugs was created to rescue ships drifting towards one of the holes. Pirate activity had been decreasing as the Navy cracked down on them, this left the tugs with less and less work. The tugs were about to have there biggest job ever, towing ships bigger the they had ever pulled before. The Warhammer's comm array crackled to life as the great warship dropped out of the super-luminal dimension, the Swift's message reached it, throwing the entire ship into a frenzy of action.
"Comm, acknowledge the Swift's transmission, then contact Tug command. Tell them I need every available tug ready to jump to the coordinates transmitted by the Swift. Helm, plot our course and jump when ready. Operations, I want Warhammer Squadron ready to launch. Guns, get your people ready, we are going in hot!" ordered the Emperor.
"Aye, sirs" echoed across the bridge as the scrambled to carry out their tasks. The realspace engines rumbled to life sending subtle vibrations through the ship. The Warhammer turned ponderously as her Helmsman brought her around for the jump, a flicker of pseudo-motion and the six-hundred meter warship lept towards battle. Simultaneously with the Warhammer's jump, a secret comm signal raced across space, bridging, for an instant, interstellar space. Meanwhile tugs began moving into positions that would allow them to reach the graveyard in minutes. Once there they would begin hauling ships to the shipyards above Celentre-2 where they would be repaired and crewed. The ships that had battled each other till fiery death came on one or the other would now fight side by side under the same flag.
Back in the graveyard the Swift had finally located the TF coreship and its pirates. Despite being one of the lightest ships used by the Galactic Empire, the Carrack cruisers still packed enough firepower and shielding to take on any pirate. However this was not just "any" pirate they were facing, a TF coreship out massed the Swift by a considerable margin and its firepower and shields were considerable even without its engine assembly and the main reactors that it housed.
"Helm, keep your distance from that ship, but be ready to pursue any ships that launch. Ops, get the scouts in a position to harass anything that may try and leave. We will stay here until the Warhammer arrives." ordered Captain Brahme as he took stock of their situation.
"CIDF cruiser you are trespassing in our space, leave immediately or my men will destroy you!" growled a voice from the comm.
"This is Captain Brahme of the CIDF warship Swift you are harboring a pirate who attacked a group of CIDF ships. Release them to us and we will be lenient to you, maybe."
"Ha! Your vessel is no match for my base and my fleet is on the way you will be destroyed!"
"Perhaps not. This is Emperor Jos of the Celentren Empire, you have probably heard of me? I am aboard my ship the Warhammer and it does have enough firepower to hurt you." the voice was as cold as a Hoth winter and just as forgiving.
"Emperor your days of playing supreme ruler are over, my ships have arrived!" laughed the pirate lord.
"Very well, my men do need target practice, but when your ships have been destroyed you will not be far behind" replied that same cold voice.
The came at the CIDF ships from all angles, a motley assortment of ships, from a couple Correlian Corrvettes and a Bulk Cruiser to battered stock light freighters and a few Z-95s. The Warhammer's squadron of Belbullab-22s spun deadly patterns as they took their superior training and ships against a more numerous foe. The Warhammer and Swift worked together, focusing their weapons on a single target ripping it up before moving on to the next. YTs and Ghtroc's flared brightly as they were turned to gas and metallic fragments. But numbers began to tell, especially as the Bulk Cruiser entered the fight. Warhammer Squadron was slowly decimated and the scouts from the Swift were already dead, the Swift's shields finally crumpled and enemy fire began to tear into its tough hide. The Warhammer's shields began to weaken allowing the occasional bolt to tear into its thick belt of armor. Then ships began to explode, just blossoming into incandescent balls of flame. Through the dissipating flame and past dying ships raced a group of Carrack cruisers.
"Sorry we were late Emperor, we got your signal, but some of us had to make a couple of extra jumps to reach the rendezvous."
"That's quite alright Captain, lets finish these pirates and burn their nest!"
"Aye, sir, we'll deal with them!"
The pirates were destroyed in detail by the fresh CIDF reinforcements. It was not a defeat for the pirates, it was not even a route, it was complete slaughter. Just as the pirates had slaughtered civilian transports, so they were cut down. In mere minutes it was over and then the assault on the base began.
"Target that Trade Federation coreship and destroy it!" came the Emperor's command.
"Aye, Sir!"
"You can't do this!" screamed the pirate chief "there are laws against just killing pirates, you have to give us a trial!"
"Unfortunately for you I am the law in this part of space and I am going to kill you." Emperor Jos smiled coldly.
The pirates pleas turned to babble as his base was destroyed around him. His voice cut off as one of the eight reactors in the core blew up causing the other reactors to explode, ripping the ship apart from the inside. The Emperor issued commands to the fleet, ordering some to return to their patrols, others were to guard the graveyard until the tugs had salvaged the ships floating there. The Warhammer and the Swift returned to Celentre Prime to undergo repairs. Emperor Jos was pleased, a thorn and been removed from his side and a large number of hulls had been recovered and would be refit and readied for service in the CIDF. His empire was doing very well.
Down on Celentre Prime there was a team of archaeologist who were studying the remains of an ancient civilization. A civilization that was thought to have ties to the Shroud, that mysterious chain of black holes that surrounded the entire star cluster.
