Best of SWvST Fanfiction

Post by Battlehymn Republic »

What is the best of Star Wars vs. Star Trek fanfiction. I’ve just finished Michael Wong’s “Conquest”. Excellent story, though I think he was a lot nicer than he could have been. The best series ever would probably be “Worlds Without End”, though I think it kind of fizzled out by the end of “Against All Odds”. I haven’t touched “Unity”, which was written by the same people, as I am very frightened by the ending to “AAO” and simply do not like the Sebastian character.

I have to agree with the World Without End saga. I would suggest you keep reading it though. I don't remember Paradise Lost (the first part on the second trilogy) being quite as entertaining (I may have just read it over too long a period though), but Blood of Heroes (the second part of the second trilogy) may have been even better than Shadows in the Night and Against All Odds.

Personally (but I'm sure my opinion is shared by a lot of people around here) I apreciate a lot Stravo's "Starcrossed" (even if a new chapter is being delayed )

Marina's DIG, but read Long Patrol first, since DIG is essentially a sequel.
January's ISD: Eliminator is pretty good, even if on the old side.

Where can I find the ASVS fanfiction? Is there an archive site somewhere?

I like Mike January's stuff. Did he just quit writing?

And I also like twilight war and conquest. I liked the beginning of Starcrossed but once Darth Nemesis became Luke Skywalker, I think it downhill from there. Especially bringing in the Galactic Empire, I liked the Kirk vs Nemesis storylinr.

Don't forget Graham Kennedy's "Portal." For laughs of course. I also saw somewhere out there a MST3K version. Even funnier. :P

what do you want from Portal?

It was typical ST/SW short military fanfic, only the sides were changed - ST was kicking arses

That's the only way to read that tripe.

Seriously reading it was a chore just because it was poorly written, ignoring the whole fighting. Yeah there are much worse in the fanfic arena, but for ST vs SW it's amazing how bad that thing is.

As for fic I like of the versus.

1. Chuck's works...which is still ongoing and a damn fun read.
2. Mike's Conquest.
3. Fontaine's Starcrossed, while still ongoing because lazy butt gets distracted!

I generally regard Conquest as my favorite (the ending is simply brilliant), but I like all of Chuck Sonnenburg's stuff and StarCrossed is pretty good too. Unfortunately I have seriously slacked off on both reading and writing fics for a couple of years now...

My personnel favorite is "Worlds Without End", followed by "Shadows in the Night".

A bunch of drooling retards with cardboard ships and peashooters masquerading as the Empire, and a Culture fleet pretending to be the Federation.

(No, not really, but that's how it reads... if you can manage to read more than a paragraph or two before the authors complete lack of writing skill causes your brain to start dribbling out of your ears.)

EDIT: And I think it only exists here because somebody was masochistic enough to go through the whole thing, insert comments on the various inaccuracies (at a rate of about one per paragraph of the original story), and then post it here.

Lord Revan IIRC. As expected, when he sent the review to the author GK, he simply replied "Sorry you didn't like it. Better luck next time." I didn't expect him to be much concerned about any bad reviews honestly. Why would he?

nope it wasn't me (it was Tribun(or something like that) IIRC), I didn't even get thru first chapters of the "portal" before I did quit (it's boring as hell)

Yep, that was me after picking the damn thing apart.

Well, you made of the few.

Two things I did agree with that topic. Red' POV. In the whole of the Fanfic, it's not bad(at least he wrote in some format one could understand....) and Crown's bit of the Force on it's effect on squashing people with
"Works. Just. Like. Gravity ... Bitch" He replied.
All in all, the biggest blah of Portal? It's boring along with being bad. I mean you can feel the swaggering and hell you wonder how can there be TEN HOUR long battles, when even TREK doesn't have battles that long...and they are supposed to be stronger then their opponents?

StarCrossed all the way. It was stumbling upon an episode of that fic while aimlessly browsing that led me to this... er... place. :)

It's definetly got to be Starcrossed. It's a great fic, but u have to be ready to read something that is longer than the LotR trilogy with no end to it in sight
